100%. Our secondary play is ATROCIOUS sometimes and if not for our pass rush we'd be toast. They'll make good plays on one possession and then completely whiff on coverage the next.

B - not renewing someone's contract if they are your buddy has to feel about as bad as firing them. One way or another, you're telling them you don't want them at the school anymore.
One could argue we made the positive transition from "lose big" (which we did against good teams last year) to "lose small" across the board. Even the Clemson game was only a 10 point loss that was also a "winnable" game.
We moved to a place of being capable of winning every game we played - and then f'd up too often.
OSU-Michigan were both fined 100k by the Little10.
I hear ya, but watching the games, it feels like the offense is doing enough, but the defense has inexplicable meltdowns where they seem sorta lost and it bites us big. Yes, there have been clock mismanagement problems, but I still feel like the defense collapsing is making those clock management issues bigger deals than they could/should have been.
They also treat every play/game the same- which is my issue with it. Aaron Judge rips the cover off the ball - except for the post season when it matters. Dak Prescott puts up good numbers- in small games, not big ones. A third down conversion against VT in the first quarter is not the same as the countless back breaking ones we give up when we absolutely need a stop. Lamar Jackson puts up insane numbers against the Bengals in Septemeber. Not so much in January. Etc.
Most advanced stats have liked us all year. We're like 27 in kford ratings and 1 or 2 in the what if rankings which flip every single possession and OT result.
The problem with advanced stats is they don't take into context timing of blunders or horrible coaching decisions. We had a really good defense in the redzone on paper....but if you watched the games you know that's because we lucked into a ton of turnovers in the redzone resulting in 0 points after the offense just did whatever they wanted for the last 70 yards. Most analytical stats will eat that up as a bend don't break defense but that was not what we had.
The administration is starting to doubt Pry.

correct- Ironic since that was supposed to be the ONE benefit to the ACC's bullshit football agreement with ND- better bowls. Oh well. The ACC got nothing out of that deal- nothing and I said it at the time.

Speaking of post season - looks like the BC defensive end got 3.5 sacks (and 10 tackles) on Saturday to eek out the regular season sack title at 16.5 to APR's 16 so I have a feeling that APR's chances at ACC DPOY are pretty slim. Still pretty amazing to be 2nd overall in sacks, shame that the first is in the same conference.
Yes and no. I'd say the difference was not between majors but between undergrads vs. grads. It was still impossible to do poorly across undergrad majors. If you get in you could sleepwalk to Bs and Cs. Most of the kids I taught in fields like Biochem and Bio were good, but Fs at VT would be Cs there.
In the grad school in the natural sciences, it was hard. Had some friends in music and that sure was demanding too. Can't say about graduate school in majors like Philosophy or Comparative Literature (yes, that was a grad major in the 1990s). Anyone willing to spend $50,000 a year or whatever it was back then to get a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature may have intelligence, but they are not very bright.
Start slow, finish slow is the worst possible place to be for sure.
I've said many many times to my football buddy that I split season tickets with that we may not be well resourced but being smart doesn't cost anything, and we're not even smart most of the time. It is a shame they extended him. His first contract was set to expire January 1, 2025 anyway.
Pry could have been relieved of the responsibility of "firing" his buddy and just decide not to renew his contract.

Oh it is 100% - well, maybe not 100%, perhaps more like 50-60% - about knowing the right people and being in the network. The people there are not any smarter than those at VT. My point is about the schools and the people not being anywhere as good as they think they are. I swear, some of the people I met there have to breath through their mouths because their noses are curled so far up in the air that there is not enough oxygen to breath where their noses end.
Not all, of course. There are regular people there - especially in the grad school for sciences like Biophysics and Biochemistry - who went to places like VT, University of Indiana and Angelo State for undergrad. But there are lot who match the worst of the stereotypes. And no matter how bad you do, it was essentially impossible to get less than a C in the 1990s if you are an undergrad there. From what I've read, it is darn hard to get a B now.
And I come back to there is a big difference between being smart and being intelligent. At least how I define the terms. A lot, and I mean a whole lot, of the people coming out of Ivy League schools have high IQs but have minimal common sense, practical life skills, etc. And we are definitely seeing private businesses waking up to this now. Could give examples, but many would be crossing the political line.
In terms of this season, I was really hoping to see the team improve week to week. I did not see that. Like last season, we had a decent spurt, but did not improve in November- Duke may have been arguably our worst game overall. I know we had injuries, but so does everyone else. At this point, I honestly dismiss any win against UVA. We have beaten them 22 of the last 24 games. We are in their heads like no other. Any win over them I take with a grain of salt at this point. You want the team to improve and play their best football at the end- at any level of football. Bellichicks teams played much better in December than they did in September, etc. Saban's teams played better as the year went on. That is what is most disappointing to me. We got off to a slow start AND we lost 3 of our last 4 games too.
