In that situation as a hitter you CANNOT be taking any borderline pitches. Perdomo should have known better especially after watching Soto go down on strikes on a very similar pitch the inning before. At that point as a hitter you should be taking note that the ump might have a slightly expanded zone. Miller and Smith did and they took advantage of it. That's baseball. The DR players can whine all they want about 2 pitches, and just ignore how they failed to score in the 4th and the 7th with golden opportunities, or how their best hitters Soto went 0-fer while grounding into a DP.

I can buy a lot of pizza and wings for nearly every game with what they are trying to get for tickets. Oh, and beer too.
They are charging for the fan fest in the cities as well. Complete money grab all the way around. Can even imagine the parking charges at some places.

The decline was probably the correct thing.
But it's better, imho, to let them know so they aren't picking a team, putting them in a bracket, then having to change it after the announcement. At least from the NIT standpoint. Like Peter said below, it was mishandled by VT social media. And should have been announced in a similar time frame as Indiana. Plus sending them an email is free, puts them on notice, and doesn't look bad like posting something Friday.
My main point was more that, as a fan, I no longer waste energy getting upset about there being twice as many bowls as there "should" be. I just don't watch them.
As for the NIT, either go (IMO we should) or just quietly decline the invite when it comes. No need for the drama of announcing to the world ahead of time that we're taking our ball and going home.
Bunch of games here at Metlife this summer, tix are $$$$. My livenation guy said no shot at pulling any strings for face value tix, they are totally locked down

i am interested in some games in Atlanta, but tickets prices are really $$$. lowest i can find for morocco/haiti is about $350/ticket.
i didn't win the US Soccer lottery for the right to buy tickets...so now US Soccer wants me to join as a Premium member ($$), then i can pay to enter another lottery for the right to buy tickets. the whole process is nuts.
think i might settle for taking my son to see US/Senegal friendly in Charlotte in May.
Wasn't Howland supposed to be a key contributor or maybe even starter at Tackle?
I have always preferred the "Where's Waldo" jerseys.

Or in all those great Mediterranean dishes! But then again, we're not using your store brand canned olives which, admittedly, don't add much other than bad texture.
One of my favorite memories while being a student at VT was the NIT game against Baylor. This was very much pre Cassell Guard, but a bunch of us sat front row and dressed up with spray painted orange "Jabbawockeez" masks. Photos made the front page of the paper and such.
I think we lost though. But I still look at the photos and remember the good time we had.

I'm tired of the different versions of red and/or blue on our unis.
Hockey figures it out. No reason why we can't be red/white for home, like white for England, blue for Italy, yellow for Brazil, light blue for Argentina, red/gold for Spain, black/red/gold for Germany...
The blue is a little darker than I'd like, but can live with this with the sublimated stars.
But the red and white ones are fire.
Good news! Not a decommitment!

I have watched it about ten times and two things stand out. I cant tell when it dropped and the catcher framed it perfectly. That ball drops like 15 inches but I haven't seen a side angle that shows when it breaks. If it was at its top as it got to the front of the box its likely a strike. It had vicious movement though so I get why the call doesnt sit well with DR fans.
Fortier won the WV Division 2 State Title at 175 lbs to help my Alma mater win its third straight WV team title.

Regardless of how the tournament goes, at least the US will finally look like US Soccer again.
The alternate kit has an interesting metallic star sublimation on them
But seriously, in the same sense that Brazil is yellow over royal blue, the US should absolutely be the red and white stripes on top and navy shorts going forward. Why we have ever gone away from that is just really stupid IMHO.

# | "OT: Anybody Watching the WBC? USA Beat Dominican Republic in a Thriller Last Night, 2-1 That was a great game! The Dominican Republic came into the game averaging 10.3 runs/game, but they were only able to score 1 run against Team USA. I kept expecting the DR bats to explode for a few runs, but the USA pitchers were outstanding.
The DR fans are pretty upset about the final strike call that ended the game. Juan Soto went 0 for 4 in the game, but said afterwards "We showed the world who's the best team in baseball. That's all I got to say." Right... That reminds me of Nathan McKinnon's comments after losing in the Olympic Hockey Gold Medal Game: "You be the judge of who was the better team today."
