The Hokies are 1 of 6 to place all 10 wrestlers, joining Iowa State, Nebraska Ohio State, Oklahoma State, and Penn State.

Iowa and Rutgers placed 9

Illinois, Pittsburgh, Stanford, and Wisconsin placed 8

Arizona State, Columbia, NC State, and Oklahoma placed 7

Wins matter, of course, but those all important bonus points are critical for higher placements.

I do think the Hokies have 4 poised to make deep runs, potentially a few Championship contenders.

I think another 4 or 5 have an opportunity to make it to Friday before dropping to consolations, potentially earning AA status.

The toughest run, I see is Mullen. I think he gets past Mueller, but Bastida is a beast. He should have an advantage on Friday morning against any of his opponents, but then he's gonna get the loser of Ben Kueler (Iowa) and Cole Mirasola (Penn State). I don't know if he could win that to stay alive. Ideally, he'd put together a few bonus points before then.

Big Jimmy opens against Vincent Mueller of Colorado. His second round opponent will be either Yonger Bastida of ISU or the winner of Mason Rebuck of Bloomington and Emmanuel Ulrich of America.

Sasso begins with Colton Hawks of Arizona State. His second round will be against either Bennett Berge of SDSU or Wyatt Ingham of Wisconsin.

Sasso does not appear to have wrestled any of these others during the year.

I know what you mean. I can't imagine a more frustrating season/end of season given what we should've been capable of. I've had it on in the background, but haven't paid much attention. Maybe that'll change come the semis/final, but ~shrug~

Bullock starts out with Jared McGill of Edinboro.

His second round opponent will be either Max McEnelly of Minnesota or Tyler Bienus of Bucknell. Bienus defeated Bullock earlier this year 2-4. I don't know if he met McEnelly in the National Duals.

Sergio goes up against Alex Facundo of OK State. Facundo came out the victor 4-1 the last time out.

His second round opponent will be either Beau Mantanona of Michigan or Garrett Thompson of Ohio

Church will take on Matty Bianchi of Arkansas-Little Rock. His second round opponent will be either Sean Seefeldt of Penn or Bryce Hepner of UNC. Church won 3-2 earlier this year, but lost 2-0 in the ACC Finals. Seefeldt defeated Church 5-2.

The committee chair said they seeded differently than in years past, somewhat favoring younger athletes.

In any event Miller opens with Kai Owen of Colorado. His second round opponent would be either Meyer Shapiro of Cornell or Laird Root of UNC. Miller won against the later 5-2 SV.

Collin Gaj opens against Kaden Cassidy of George Mason and will take on the winner of Joseph Zargo of Wisconsin or Chance Lamer of Nebraska.

First time in as long as I can remember I couldn't give a S about watching any of the rest of the ACC Tournament. Haven't turned it on today, didnt think about it outside our loss. In other years when the Hokies lost I still watched every game. This meltdown just hit different.

Crook gets a familiar draw against Minnesota's Vance Vombaur, who won during the National Duals 4-1.

A (albeit unlikely) win would put him in the second round against Joey Olivieri of Rutgers or Nash Singleton of Oregon State.

I do think Crook is seeded too low, and think he will wrestle above his seed. I'm not saying an upset is likely, just that it's not off the table.

Seidel begins with Luke Willochell of Wyoming. Oddly, neither were at the meet during the National Duals.

A win moves Seidel against the winner of Jacob Van Dee of Nebraska and Julian Farber of UNI.

Ventresca opens up his tournament against Desmond Pleasant of Drexel who defeated Ryan Messick earlier this year by Tech Fall.

The two have not matched up against each other this season.

A win puts him against the winner of Koda Holeman of Cal Poly and Spencer Moore of Illinois, Ventresca having a 6-3 win earlier this year against the latter.
