Good gals win 14-2 in 6 innings. 7 run top of the 6th scoring ended in a Castine 3 run homer.
There really aren't "many teams" ahead of us in the NIT pecking order. We have been hovering on the bubble for almost our entire ACC schedule. We may not end up a 1/2 seed depending how many favorites lose in lower conferences to pick off a couple extra spots but no chance we fall below a 4 seed. Lunardi even today hasnt completely written off the Hokies because of the Road SoS. I dont see it but expect a 2/3 seeding in the NIT at the lowest.
Thanks- This makes me feel better about him for sure. He does seem really well connected on the recruiting trail.
IF, big if, we even got invited, we'd be one of the play-in games for an 11 or 13 seed. But after last night, we closed the case for the NIt and a 2nd seed there hosting some games.

That's all I'm saying.
I think that has less weight than undefeated conference champ but that's a valid point. Volk's performance at Big Tens does buoy Eddie's chances too.

He still has a H2H win against Seymour in last year's tournament
I suspect Eddie gets the 3 seed since the All Star match doesn't count. I agree that Seidel is probably the 4. I think Sasso could get as high as #3 but #5 is more likely. I have no feel for 149 but Gaj at 3 would be awesome.
Does anyone really think we're one of the first four teams out? even if we do get an invite i will be surprised if we are anything higher than an #8 seed.... VT currently sits 111th in Win pct across D1... there are 68 teams in the NCAA tourney, and 32 for the NIT, 100 teams total. I understand not all wins or losses are the same, but there are many teams ahead of us in the NIT pecking order...Fortunately for us KenPom thinks pretty highly of our season - currently 58th.
Can we tell recruits that?
19 sports count.
Baseball, both basketballs and women's volleyball must be among those 19.
Virginia Tech only offers 19.
Tech will move up thanks to men's indoor tf, women's tf, women's basketball, and men's swimming, and wrestling.
We'll then move up with softball and women's golf
As much as I love CMY for his personality and approach, I do hope the lack of an extension is a sign that he is playing out his last year and handing the reins over to Frazier.
We're 111th in the Fall rankings, which isn't surprising considering we fired our FB coach, and the only sports that rank in are cross country, field hockey, football, soccer, and volleyball. Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball each have men's and women's scoring.
All of our points come from men's cross country.
April 9 will see the bulk of winter sports. Skiing, Rifle, Men's and women's track and field, fencing, women's hockey, wrestling, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's basketball.
April 23 finishes winter: women's bowling, men's hockey, men's and women's gymnastics.
June 9 adds women's water polo, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf, women's rowing and softball
Final standings will include baseball and men's and women's track and field
What I'm also seeing is that, after that first shock of NIL, Tech has had an upwards trajectory of 5 places per year.
There were some schools that saw obvious success due to NIL in that first year
Nebraska jumped from 49 to 29
Clemson from 65 to 51
Iowa from 55 to 48
Syracuse from 72 to 45
Penn St from 43 to 15
Indiana from 64 to 49
Pittsburgh from 73 to 52
Utah from 44 to 28
After the first half...Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking.
After the second half...Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines.
Frazier hasnt had enough time to instill defensive intensity in this squad. He has been back nine months. I dont know what practices look like and how much time he gets to spend with them defensively. The defenses at Kansas State and Illinois under him were phenomenal. WVU was as well, so much so that his head coach was hired by Indiana.
He is known for post play development but the only player on this team he has spent more than 9 months with is Hsnsberry. He is also known for being an elite recruiter. In just three months he brought in Hansberry, Neo, Dorn, Bedford and Pasha with the 14th ranked in ACC NIL budget Tech provided.
He was recently named a Silver Leaf Most Impactful Assistant Coach for this season.
Begs the question as to why he won't work on it in practice, or play stretches in non-conf to tweak it. VT women were torching UVa (by23) and lost the lead when UVa went zone and changed the game. For a coach to not have it in his tool kit is poor.
2025: 45
2024: 50
2023: 55
2022: 33<- NIL starts here
2021: 32
First four out get automatic invites as 1 seeds.
Next 4 out get auto invites as 2 seeds
I will never fault somebody who makes that decision.
If you're not in the right headspace, don't risk it and definitely don't risk hurting the dogs.
I was thinking about our AD and the size of VT. I'm going to go on a DC rant because he was right.
Overall, our AD has failed. We are too big to be this mediocre(being kind here) in athletics overall.
We get beat by smaller schools and far inferior, or what should be far inferior schools way too often and historically done so. There are way too many examples, but remember ECU beat us and gave us fits. Beamerball was our crown jewel exception for a small period of time and in the scheme of things was a moment and not a way of life for VT AD.
VT for the most part has "settled" for mediocrity its entire existence.
We had spurts in WBB, Softball, Baseball, some individuals in T& F, and now Wrestling.
Outside of that, C- at best as a whole.
For the Love of God, please Lord, Baby Jesus, PUH-LEASE...........PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let JMFF be the next coming of VT Christ.
PLEASE!!!!!

125- EV got 2 seed
