We were not overlooked nationally until recently. We were a regular BCS team with frequent national stages to play in big openers and bowl games.

# | David Teel: Babcock, Fuente, & others to re-examine future football schedules What I really want to see is more match ups with WVU (h&h) preferably and a smattering of SEC (UT & Georgia) or BIG (Maryland, PSU) with a sprinkle of local VA teams every other year or so. I just want our OOC schedule to be much more balanced. Its not the worst thing in the world, but for the past few years our the first half of our home games have lacked meaning, not including anOSU. Keeping ECU will restrict way to much of their flexibility of generating new and interesting matchups. I think if he does a big shakeup the fans would be ecstatic.
Yeah the app itself sucks, plus I hate the emoji movement anyways (get off my lawn!). That said, I'm always on board with more horses on more treadmills.

So I have to ask (and I apologize if I missed it anywhere)... how do you see this game playing out? You know our squad a heck of a lot more than anyone else in here, and you've gone through to torture of watching Syracuse's highlights from the season, which deserves a merit on its own. I know you're cautioning us that the Cuse receivers can go off on us, but do you actually see that happening, or are you confident enough in what you've seen from our defense that we should be able to contain them pretty well?
I assume you're in agreement with the rest of the football world that we shouldn't have any problems when our offense is on the field against their defense that statistically is to defense what our offense has been to offense the last few years.
In a large part, yes. That is why the spread works as a running offense. It stretches out the defender's gaps so they lose gap integrity.

Screens and quick hitches. Ishmael and Estime are both high volume possession guys, but not the down field threat that Etta-Towa is. Their running game is just like East Carolina's in past years. On tapes, you see them breaking a handful of decent chunk runs, but those chunk runs are created by space from the spread. VT has, for the most part, shut that type of running game down. Dungey isn't a guy where they can line up and run QB power. He had a bunch of carries against Wake due to the rain, and the hits he took impacted both his long term health and his ability to throw (based on his own comments: http://dailyorange.com/2016/10/eric-dungey-forced-take-syracuse-football... )

I'd rather the Spiders have the chance to beat UVA every year. Because they can. It works out better for me: Richmond gets a D1 win and UVA looks bad. Win-win.
I don't know how I'm going to handle the "pulling for both teams" charade anyway.
The defense was elite, but the team as a whole was overlooked nationally because the offenses perennially sucked. You better believe that played into the decisions of the recruits when they wanted to go play for teams where they would be on national primetime broadcasts and be shown in the best light possible. Even in our best years, we rarely got the showcase treatment.
Now? Hell, we're 5 games in and there's already a different national perception about us. Things are completely and utterly different now than they used to be, and this will show in recruiting as well.
Dino's defensive scheme is prehistoric.

I really like Whit Babcock. He gets it.
But I agree with most everyone here that we don't need to play ECU every year. And we shouldn't play ODU and ECU the same year. For me, it's the same slot on the schedule.
I'm in favor of more P5 teams on the schedule, so go with the 8+2 model as much as possible, even if the rest of the ACC isn't on board. Notre Dame counts as one of the two in those years.
If I might make a design suggestion, rather than the white outline around the protruding keys, take a look at expanding the width of the thin white circle that frames the outside edge of the circle so that it provides a white background for the portion of the keys that currently extends beyond the border. To me, outlining the keys in white looks odd.
