Yep, I was at that game and BC in '07. I knew I had a memory of rain water flowing past my feet but I was young. Wore a pair of Nike Shox or something that were porous and was drenched from head to toe even with a jacket and a poncho on. Everybody stood the whole game. Awesome memory

In all seriousness, I got to see Trout play in Boston this year...up till August, he was easily the fastest person I'd ever seen live get around the bases. The I finally got up to a Nats game this year (#GoNats)...Turner runs circles around him, holy moly that is one fast dude.
LOL, sorry, I'll apologize for that right there. I just couldn't refrain from typing it. That was some great music in the 90's. Especially after the musical debacle of the 80's.
Thing that got me about the charter is that the captain didn't change strategies after not catching anything for 5 hours. I have been on alot of trips from Key Large to Ocean City and the captain would atleast on the way in do some junk fishing so everyone caught something. In fact our captain quit almost an hour early because of nothing chasing. Will do more research next year.

So as soon as the government started taking this really serious the latest tracks have moved it east, which means more people refusing to believe the weather forecasters and government evacuation orders.
My problem with Vinton is how how unwelcoming the police force is and also running into ex girlfriends at the grocery store. Now that's enough to get me to move..
But again if you like the outdoors but want to be close enough to a city like Roanoke without being in Roanoke....Just check out Vinton.

Doesn't standing the test of time provide a means to measure the greatness of a band? Nirvana was good. I still listen to them. My entire point is that they are not AS good as they are given credit for, and that much of their popularity can be ascribed to the mythos of Kurt Cobain after his alleged suicide.
To further illustrate the latter point, the Doors are one of my all-time favorite bands. I fucking LOVE their music. But would they have achieved the same level of staying power (which, granted, is not really comparable to that of Nirvana) if Jim Morrison hadn't killed himself? I don't believe so. And the Doors were a far better band than any of those previously listed.

Hey man I went to Byrd myself and to be honest I don't mind Vinton. The town is located adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway and is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains....as a mountain guy that's all need.

Grew up around there and everyone knew what Hampton Roads meant, though not really what it was. You cannot go a day living there without hearing the term unless you shut the doors and windows, listen to no TV or radio, and even then, you'd be hard pressed not to hear it. It is, in short, ubiquitous in the region.
Agreed, I don't understand why schools can't negotiate performance standards into the buyout. You win as many games as Turner Gill did at Kansas, NO BUYOUT FOR YOU.

The Doors, as you say, did not stand the test of time. Neither did Bob Dylan. Lots of late 60's and early 70's acts didn't. Country Joe and the Fish. Mamas and the Papas. Joan Baez. All fit in their time period but were defined by "Fortunate Son". People did and still love them all, though in my experience it's a lot of people who lived on or around the time those bands were making music. I like classic rock a lot.

Nirvana was globe-changing when Cobain was still alive. Soundgarden, STP, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam. All fit in their time period but were defined by "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I would begrudgingly accept "Jeremy", but not really. Anything any of them ever did can and will still be good, but the shadow cast by that song and band during that time is inescapable. People do and still love these bands, too (this guy).
But when Smells Like Teen Spirit came out, music fans of a certain age range said, "Hey wait. That's what it's like to be alive right now. That perfectly describes the way I feel."
