When my mom was still living in North Myrtle Beach, they would vacate at the drop of a hat. Always headed out to the Howard Johnson's in Florence, for whatever reason. She'd call and leave the same message, "We're at the HoJo in Flo if you need us". I think they probably had a bunch of friends that did the same and they all never missed a happy hour.
Don't lobby for something that benefits us during a category 4 hurricane.
I think the sliding scale should work both ways. If a coach continuously performs below targets then the buyout scale should go in the reverse and allow schools to pay less to get rid of bad coaches. But that would never happen unless every contract for every coach at every school worked the same way.

I actually just heard this same story from an auburn grad this weekend.
There are 25K undergrads in Blacksburg that would love an excuse to tailgate and have an extra home game. Lots of Hokie fans in Blacksburg. Even more in the surrounding area. I bet we could get upwards of 50K if they announce it sooner rather than later.
I went out today for a couple of hours with a friend who needed a ride to shuttle his skiff out of the water in prep for Matthew. We caught two 17" reds, four undersized stripers, one was over 18", two 13" speckled trout, one eating sized white perch, and a true dink of a flounder. All on gulp swimming mullet. We were at the top of the Piankatank River, got the stripers at the Rt. 3 bridge. While the fish were short, it was fun on light tackle and a great way to feel the Fall coming. First day I've been chilly on the water since the Spring.

Or we forfeit! We're 2-4 now, but we have extra time to get ready to lose to Stanford.
That idea about contract limits is intriguing, but if election years are this bad, we wouldn't have the Coaching Carousel every four years, it'd be the Coaching Cataclysm.
