As the game gets closer we can see who else is up, maybe arrange a TKP gathering. Not sure how tailgating works up here. The Dome didn't feel too terribly large last time I was there, but it was cut in half for a basketball game. Not too hard to spot people.

Central New York Hokies on Facebook said they were planning a tailgate, but working on the details. This was before the time announced.

I could see ND want to join if they finish up with 1 loss and are left out because they didn't get to play in a conference title game while a bunch of 1 loss teams (or possibly even a 2 loss team from the SEC) got in over them due to their performance in championship week. That is a very real possibility.

OMG can you imagine the meltdown in Clemson if Dabo jumps ship...kinda makes me giddy just thinking about it...who do they go after then?

I could see Auburn going full court press to get someone like Petrino. If they can't get him, I would think they'll look at candidates like RichRod, Petersen, or Fedora.

Oh absolutely, but if someone like ND comes calling, that could blow up his plans. That's arguably a more ludicrous job opportunity with more potential for individual success than Alabama. We already saw what Dabo could do at Clemson... Now imagine him at ND able to do his thing on exclusive national TV every week on NBC.

I think FSU is a better job than Auburn. I think it's probably a better job than LSU, but Jimbo has a connection there which makes it appealing for him.

That's a good call. I wonder if they keep Chizik as their fail safe and try to make a play for someone else first? If Auburn moves on you've got Malzahn in play. Do you think they would promote a DC instead of going after an offensive coach to keep their O going?

I don't think ND wants to be searching when Texas is so I think they stand down for now. I could see it being musical coaches where everyone just swaps coaches since, outside of Herman, who is there for them to go after?

This is almost stating the obvious but Yahoo and ESPN both have reports that Strong is basically out at the end of the season. But what if he wins out, would they rethink the decision?

You beat me to it...Dabo hasn't been mentioned in any of this. He gets paid a tonnn at Clemson...but I imagine he's holding out for when Saban retires (alma mater).

lol right, add in Auburn...

So take my below theory... and add in Auburn... You're looking at an offseason where Texas, LSU, ND, and Auburn all have openings by season's end. The fallout from this could leave FSU looking for a coach as well. This thing could domino effect into Jimbo, Fedora, Petrino, and/or Dabo all bolting out of the ACC prior to the start of the 2017 season.

Are you guys talking about the RichRod of WVU, Michigan, and Arizona fame? I don't see his usual supporter cheering him on here.

I don't see ND ever joining...not until they go undefeated and don't get a playoff spot...which if they did go 12-0 I don't think they would be left out of the playoff (and neither do they)

The ACC needs ND waaaaaay more than ND needs the ACC. They're raking in a ton of cash that they don't have to share with anybody else at the moment and they would be absolutely stupid to give that up. I don't see how the ACC could sweeten the pot enough to entice ND to join. The only potential leverage that I believe the ACC has is that they can put their champion into the playoff. But at this point there has been no precedent set for independents being left out of the picture due to lack of a conference championship win. If I'm ND I'm going to postpone joining a conference as long as possible and fatten my pockets in the meantime. If I go undefeated and don't get a playoff spot then I'll reconsider...until then I'm perfectly content with where I am.

Any word from Eric Whitehead and/or Adonis Williamson? Is this the year they're eligible to transfer?

You know what, the more I think about it, UNC probably already has their next head coach in Chizik. Fedora gets hired away and they likely promote from within.

Lets say it all happens. Texas gets Herman, LSU gets Jimbo... Fedora is probably headed to either FSU or ND at that point, and UNC promotes from within. That leaves either ND or FSU with an opening and no real good candidates left. Lets say Fedora goes to FSU, that leaves the door wide open for ND to start throwing money at someone like Dabo.

Man, things could get extremely interesting this year. Let me reiterate, I'm glad we got our guy last year.

We have a couple things working for us
- Sky is the limit for our programs (conference affiliation, facilities)
- Good relationships with our athletic director
- Fuente and Buzz have 3/4 kids each in Bburg schools

Limiting factors:
- Not a blue blood
- Lack of $$$ to keep them from the Hokie Club

So if you like the success we're having and want to keep them... please donate to the Hokie Club! Otherwise, when they leave, you're KINDA responsible ;)
