Don't people get it? The outcome will either be 8+2 or 9+1. ECU will either remain or be dropped from the schedule regardless of the outcome. Playing Duke and GT every year will be unchanged regardless of the outcome.
They are still likely a top 25 team this year. They aren't playing particularly well, but Florida State is still a well coached team with a ton of talent and you don't just casually wake up and beat them unless you are also pretty good.

Personally, I don't. He was interested in moving last year but didn't like any of the offers and signed an extension with UH for about $2.25M. Strong makes $5M/yr+ at Texas. Factor in that when the Big12 dissolves Texas will get into one of the remaining conferences with UH may not.
Herman stays if the Big 12 makes Houston an offer. I think his salary increases three million a year if they become a P5 member.
Ok, after probably a year or so of lurking, I registered today and immediately joined the Key Player's Club. I feel better now after consuming so much great content for free. French's analysis makes me seem smarter and that alone is worth the price of membership.

I generally don't value head-to-head much when I'm evaluating a team. I would rank ND over Duke, for instance. 9x out of 10, ND wins that game. But I don't besmirch CFN for trying to capture it in some way.
Not trying to be snarky, but the ACC hasn't exactly been filling up the stands in any of the venues that have hosted the game since we joined. So I'm not sure that this is a real issue for anyone except BC, Wake, 'cuse, and maybe dook. And honestly, if any of them end up hosting, the rest of us should STFU. What's worse for TV, a half-full NFL stadium with no energy, or a (potentially) smaller stadium on campus where there's at least the chance of a raucous crowd? From a TV perspective, it might not be such a bad thing if there's a high demand for tickets. At least then the place would be full and you could talk about something other than being able to scalp tickets for $5.
The neutral site selections haven't proven to be a huge hit with fans, the school seat allocations suck, and many years the attendance is held down because a lot of fans can afford to travel to see either the ACCCG or a bowl game, but not both. Charlotte was a decent option in that it's a nice city and the geography works out about as well as possible given the footprint of the league. But if we're forced to make a change for political reasons, I think on-campus hosting is at least no worse than the other options, all of which have significant issues IMO. Fedex is a shithole, b'more and anything further north is likely a no-go for the southern schools, Atlanta is spoken for, FL is far away from everyone but FSU and Miami, and don't forget, the Gator Bowl people were the ones who asked to be removed from consideration the last time around because attendance there sucked.
If we're hell-bent on moving it, which I personally think is stupid, I wouldn't mind seeing a 3-year trial of hosting it on campus to see how it goes. It's probably not worse than a 3-year rotation between Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa, which I suspect is what we're likely looking at right now.
Well, I got notification from Tech today that I am going to get tickets for Notre Dame. Now I need to find a motel.
It's kinda sad these guys need to buy friends. We should be nicer to them.
For all of those who take the, "It's week 5, it doesn't matter," approach - I respect you, but disagree.
Reasons I disagree:
1. If we are ranked, that means we are winning football games.
2. You have to start with some ranking to climb up them
3. The key is to be consistently ranked, and in order to do that, you have to be ranked first.
4. The bigger key is to continue to improve that ranking each week. That means we are winning each game, and others are losing
5. By being ranked we are now included in all media articles that end in "For the Top 25 teams." - This is good exposure.
6. We are also now included when you open your ESPN score app. The original setting shows scores for the Top 25 teams - This is more exposure
Stating the obvious here, but Top 25 is not a bad thing. It is definitely a good thing. But like with everything, we cannot be satisfied and have to strive to keep climbing the rankings.

This is a game where we can hopefully jump on their porous defense early and get some stops. This game is scary if we have a sluggish start, which luckily hasn't been much of an issue so far for this team.
Texas has money. Butt loads of it.
How much did Butch Jones pay the voodoo queen to steal Les Miles luck? Tenn keeps winning on the flukes that made Les famous.

No, it's not a matter of taking ECU and ODU off the table and getting FSU, CU or Louisville a little more often. It's a matter of taking another interesting P5 OOC opponent off the table and getting FSU, Clemson, Louisville OR WF, Syracuse, or NC ST a little more often.
There are OOC P5 programs that are just as intriguing as FSU and Clemson. Wouldn't it be cool to have teams like, say, Auburn and Iowa or Oklahoma and Arkansas on the schedule?
Even with 8+2 it's not as though VT would never see FSU or Clemson - or suddenly be seeing them every year with 9+1; you'd still only see them in Lane maybe once every 6 years. In the end, I'd rather have two interesting P5 OOC games each year than getting FSU, Clemson, or Louisville (since when is Louisville that interesting?) a little more often.
I'm hearing from a very good source that the Miami game at home will be a 7:30 kickoff.
Have you seen how bad FSU's defense has been since Derwin went out? Their stacked defense has been used as well as Les Miles LSU offense.
My report, getting typical for this year, was for another day that things didn't work. Went to the CBBT yesterday to try live spot for flounder. Perfect baits, good weather, no flounder. We boated several fish, sea bass, bluefish, a redfish and a croaker, along with several oystertoads and even a pinfish, but no flatties. Feeling jinxed this year.
Have reliable reports of lots of spike trout and juvenile redfish (ok, puppy drum) in the local rivers and creeks (Middle Peninsula area, York to Rappahannock), but haven't chased them. Storm coming, waves are up already, so fishing is looking tough for near future. Good luck in OBX.
let's take a look at why we're playing ECU so much - because it was easy from a scheduling standpoint.
you keep chirping about how you don't like the Atlantic division teams and you're more excited about playing more variety of P5 teams. Fine. But there are boring teams in the Coastal too (my inclusion of ECU was TIC). Your argument that playing Atlantic teams more often is ho-hum just doesn't resonate with me. Sure there are more exciting teams out there than Wake, Cuse, NCST...there are also more exciting teams out there than Duke, LOLUVA, GT, UNC....are you suggesting we just go independent so we can make up schedules with all the best teams in the country?
