I had the exact same experience for the OSU game in Columbus. I went in expecting to be treated poorly and to see nasty OSU fans. All the rumors I heard about couldn't have been further from the truth. Every Buckeye I encountered was genuinely nice and they were all there to enjoy the game and root for their team. No nonsense. It was actually really refreshing. I had a similar experience in Bristol, but in honesty, I didn't really interact with many Vols fans. I was pretty much surrounded by Hokies everywhere I went. The few interactions I did have were normal.

Often times I think there is an element of how you approach situations...as in you get out of something what you put into it. If you are nice to people they generally tend to be nice in return and vice versa. I know that every single fanbase has bad apples (some bad-apple-Hokies were sitting right behind us at Bristol :( ..) but by and large I believe if you treat people with respect you'll get the best side of them in return.

And I rest my case. It's been nearly 50 years for me, but I never learned them even then, so they must not have been part of the "rat information" overload at the time.

Few, if any of those games will be affected by a new conferencing schedule. The main victim will be ECU or ODU.

So, in a given year we will be taking ODU or ECU off the schedule and replacing them with FSU, Clemson, Louisville, WF, NC State, or Syracuse.

Yes, it is a crapshoot as to who we get, but it's also a crapshoot as to which version of those teams we get. What if we get Wake Forest in their one good year and they go to the ACCCG? And then the next year, we get Clemson, who is en route to a 1-11 season?

I don't think ND will ever join as a full member unless it is abundantly clear that they can't make the playoff as an independent (hint: it's not abundantly clear)

They may be regretting the set up they have with a requirement to play 5 ACC teams since they could all give them trouble (so far they are 1-1 and could go 2-3 very easily)...with the national perception that the ACC is among the worst of the P5 conferences it's a bad look for ND to have a losing record against that conference. But that's beside the point.

I don't think ND will even sniff the playoffs for several years and I don't see them joining the ACC until they go undefeated and get left out of the playoff for not winning a conference or something.

I think Texas a&m actually stands a good chance of beating Tennessee this Saturday. Solid defense, and anot offense that is pretty good when they get rolling. I'll definitely time in.

That was the best Clemson's offense has looked all year and they still scored four of their TD's on short fields. I think Florida State will get up for that game at home, but we will see. Also, I don't give a shit about an ACC team making the playoff unless it's us, except maybe Louisville, but never Clemson.

You know, I read all this stuff on here about how awful Tennessee fans are but I had a great time interacting with them. Everyone I met down there, Hokie, Vol, fans of other schools, everyone was super friendly. Even after the game when I was expecting some guff from the Vol fans, all anyone said to me was complimenting Fuente and even Evans.

And yes, the scenery was gorgeous.

I actually hope Clemson beats FSU, simply for getting one of our guys into the playoffs.

Also, Florida States D is going to get lit up like the 4th of July...

Off topic, but apparently the correct word is "gantlet". I had never heard of this word (because it's 2016 and gauntlet took over 200 years ago), but newspapers still use it (based on their style guides). And before we blame the Brits, supposedly Gantlet is more common in US, probably because of the aforementioned media.

Gantlet: running between two lines of people getting the snot smacked out of you.

Gauntlet: the knight's glove that often gets thrown down.

And we have our answer:

So, to Fuente, the ranking means nothing. Probably a good mindset to have.

I have a buddy whose grandfather went to VT and collected keys over his lifetime to put on a huge key ring for him. It has over 130 keys on it. He let me borrow it sophomore year when we played @LOLUVA and I was sitting in their student section shaking this huge obnoxiously loud set of keys. It. Was. Awesome!
