The SEC has been resting on Alabama's laurels for years, basically since LSU was finally unable to overcome their ineptness on offense. The ACC has two national championship caliber teams in FSU and Clemson (FSU being down this year notwithstanding), and one on the cusp in Louisville. Doesn't matter that they're all in the same division; the SEC has been elevated by the SEC West for a decade.
Cut in stone. Sweat transfers to FIU.
my personal nightmare is Jimbo leaving and FSU getting Herman
I'm guessing this kid was thinking that Lane would be gone by now....
I've heard Fedora and think he would be the most likely to bolt given the academic scandal. While I doubt anything will happen with that, it seems easier to recruit without that headache. Petrino is a slimeball, but I don't see him jumping Louisville against this early. Jimbo is interesting. If FSU's seasons keeps going down, I can see him taking the call and who knows from there.
This is exactly the attitude I want the team and coaches to have. As for us fans, I don't think there's anything wrong with reveling in our return to the rankings a little.
You mean HEEL well.
There are as many NFL QB's from non-power schools as from power schools
Starting QBs from non P5 schools:
Derek Carr Fresno State
Ben Roethlisberger Miami (Ohio)
Carson Wentz North Dakota State
Ryan Fitzpatrick Harvard
Case Keenum Houston
Blake Bortles UCF
Joe Flacco Delaware
Thought I would look this up. More than I would have guessed.
And if LSU misses out on Herman, their sights are set on a bevy of ACC coaches.... Jimbo, Petrino, and Fedora are all rumored targets
At this point in the season, a lot of ranked teams haven't played anyone yet - see Miami Hurricanes. It is how those games are played (and, unfortunately in many cases, an undeserved preseason ranking) that gets the attention of the voters.
He has to sit from this point, for a year, given some stipulations:
While some will quibble with the timing for Barnett's decision, an article in 247Sports details why it might be ingenious. Barnett could take advantage of bylaw 14.5.6 in the NCAA transfer guide, which states that if Barnett were to transfer to a two-year institution and graduate with a GPA over 2.5 and at least 12 credit hours a semester, he could be eligible to play the following year at another FBS school.
Now, since he quit, I'm not sure where things stand with his scholarship and Bama releasing that for another school.
The battle for Herman could get epic. I don't think LSU can pony up the $$ to beat out Texas but damn that man is about to get paid.
That was the game I attended that year as well... Unpleasant. My first ever VT game was Miami in 2005 so I have not had good experiences with Miami period.
Atlantic is legit, but the Coastal is still TBD... We place someone from the Coastal into the Playoff within the next couple years and the conference as a whole should be legitimized, especially if we continue seeing the Top 10 matchups in ACC play that we've already seen this year.
And you better believe VT will have a part in it if/when the Coastal is legitimized.
Defensive coordinator has also been demoted and Strong has taken over defensive play calls. This puts pretty much all of the pressure on him to fix the defense.
Of all the shit that happens on here that's the one to give you pause?
Keene is one of the best players we have committed. Looks like a great talent, at TE or DE.
The ACC is legit, and VT definitely had a role in legitimizing it. And will continue to have a role.
I'm absolutely enjoying the latest time slots. I'll be even happier with the Hokies in the ACC championship @ 8 PM. It doesn't hurt to dream.
So Charlie Strong's seat is on fire. Apparently so much so that Texas has openly started swooning Tom Herman and hinting at Strong being out at seasons end.
We have a better chance at beating Bama than we do A&M. We had Bama beat last year with 5 to go but couldn't hold them off. A&M plays a lot like we do, I think coaching wins out in that one, but honestly nothing surprises me this year.
The UNcheat fans are chippy about that.
Twenty plus years of fraud gives us a lot of room to complain. The only reason their academic certification isn't being reviewed and people sent to jail is because the politicians (like attorney generals) don't dare start an investigation against a school with so many registered voters and alumni.
Rankings aint shit but hoes and tricks

you have no idea
