Hokies runner left early from 2nd. Turns a bases loaded 1 out situation into 2 outs and runners at 1st and 2nd
Yaeger RBI single 2-0
Still batting in 3rd
Mizelle RBI single makes it 1-0 in 2nd
Bedford is likely challenging to get his JUCO year back so could be back.
Scoreless after 1st against Radford. Carrico in the circle again. Off to a better start in this one.
"Hokies beat PSU"

Next year's Roster might not be so encouraging once things play out...
Lawal and Bedford are both gone.
I would be very, very surprised to see Neo back in O&M.
Hammond I expect to get lots of interest and offers (with the way things work, probably already has). Hansberry will also probably field some offers as well--and he's on Team #3 in Year #3, so I think if we are counting on him being back, we are being naive.
It has been a recurring theme to have attrition from the Freshman class under Mike Young, so I would count on 1-2 of those guys moving on.
Pasha barely broke into the rotation this year and Schutt is a streaky 3-point shooter who doesn't do much else.
With no 2026 signees (and no one that really is on the radar) we then have to put the team back together through the Portal---and like you correctly noted above, even if we throw more Money into Portal Players, we are still just catching up marginally as to how far we are behind.
Just another reason I wish Young would step aside and give Frazier the reigns on a prove it deal.
I've watched zero Hokie basketball this year, but I tend to agree that I would like him back. It seems like the raw talent is there, he just fell into a slump.
I'm just not sure how he feels about that.
9 mil is nice but it depends on how its relative to everyone else in the conference. We're 5 mil now, but blue bloods are 10+mil. The "not blue bloods but good basketball schools" are around 8 mil. If we move up to 9 mil but those other schools also grow their budget 3 to 4 mil, we don't really gain anything. What's also concerning to me is we've abandoned HS recruiting (not like CMY plays freshmen anyway but its nice to have relationships established) and CMY will be on the last year of his deal going into next season. How many players would be willing to come to VT knowing it is likely a one and done for everyone, players and coach? The money increase is good but its still gonna be an uphill climb for a variety of reasons. I think we should be capable of retaining most (Hammond is gonna be in high demand, if we don't meet his 1st request, wouldn't be shocked if he looks elsewhere) but it might be hard to pull in good outside transfers
That was strong. Total domination against a very good wrestler. Exciting times ahead.
I may be in the minority here but I would like to see Neo back in O&M because we all know how this scenario plays out.
Talented player has a tough year as a Hokie. Everyone says he's a bust, transfer to new school, immediately becomes impact player/solid contributor for new school.
It's happened many times against us so math says it has to work in our favor this time. Right?
A gutsy good win. Penn state is top 30 in RPI
Bo Bassett with the pin to finish his high school career 171-0 and a 3 time state champion!
Lackluster wins are still wins!
Hokies beat PSU 7-6. Radford up next.
I wasn't even thinking about HS players when I was talking about the gaps in our projected roster. But that is concerning. Although I'm not convinced these sites like 247 and On3 have documented all VT offers, we'd generally have a handful of commits at this point. Spring Signing opens April 15 so I guess we'll find out in a couple of months if we have a freshman class or not.
I think if Neo does another year of ACC basketball he will be much better and way more sellable to the NBA.
Two years to do that is not a long time.
Do you think Neo feels this way?
Is he interested at playing ACC basketball elsewhere, or is does he believe VT is the best place?
Does he believe in CMY's vision for him?
Going to 7th with 7-6 lead
Castine hits another Homer. 7-6
Runners on 2nd/3rd with two outs so threatening
Layton pitches a 1,2,3 top of the 6th. Ladies need to tack on some runs
Yaeger solo HR in bottom of 5th ties it
Hokies!
Gave up an unearned run to make it 6-5

Yaeger thrown out at the plate trying to score on an error
