# | Pirates Plundered, Analyzing Virginia Tech's 54-17 Win Over East Carolina My issue always seemed to be slants, corners, and outs when playing press man. I learned that mixing man coverage with some Cover 3 worked most of the time. I pretty much always bring at least 5 rushers, which is probably some of my problem. But, the cover 3 takes away corner routes and the underneath zones normally deal with any intermediate routes through the middle. I also learned to stop pressing so much, especially on 3rd down. Even with those 5 star senior corners get burned pressing.
Cover 2 never seemed to work for me. It didn't really matter what play was run, if the QB threw the ball, it was a completion.

If they're winning games against lesser opponents that doesnt make them better. That was literally your argument earlier and wisconsin closes with northwestern, illinois, purdont, and minnesota, thats a joke if they can survive this stretch and so far they look A-ok, I think wisconsin gets out of the schedule with 2 losses and if you think penn state has fewer agree to disagree. Likewise I'm still not sold on any of penn states team or james franklin as a coach. Id take Paul Chryst over Franklin any day of the week.
Going back to the QBs 32 TDs and 12 INTs in 2 years isnt bad by scott tolzien with 4800 yards. His stats were pretty similar to tyrod's the last two years and I think we can all agree t-mobile was pretty damn good. Frankly I think wisconsin loses to OSU and Michigan. Is ranked around 15-20 beats nebraska and wins out and finishes around 10. Do I think they're the #10 team in the country, eh probably not. But I don't get where your hate on this team is coming from. They're undefeated, Hornibrook has looked terrific and Clement is spectacular. The defense is REALLY good too
What company do you work for, if you don't mind me asking? I work for a Civil/Building/Construction Consulting Engineering firm in McLean and work with a lot of property managers, real estate companies, etc. small chance I may know you or someone at your company!
I've never been big on Quads, personally, but age any beer in a barrel (bourbon, whisky, wine, rum, tequila, wahoo tears) and I'll try it.

Name's Lamar. Graduated from Tech in '05 (BA Spanish) and '06 (MAEd), as did my wife; just replace "Spanish" with "BS Math" for her. Did a second MA at American and my PhD at Georgia, which is why you may see me defend them from time to time.
- Father of a kindergarten daughter whose perspicacity knows no bounds... and a 3-year-old son who is likely just as insightful (and will probably be Tech's star linebacker of the incoming class of 2031 because the boy tackles like a truck).
- Currently living in the Research Triangle of North Carolina. Second-year postdoc soon to be assistant professor at UNC*, with a focus on Romance linguistics. Still, I haven't grown to like vinegar barbecue.
- My sports interests are Hokie everything, Atlanta Braves baseball, Green Bay Packers football, and NBA basketball in general (though I don't like the Cavs, Spurs, Celtics, Pacers, Pistons, or Jazz at all).
- I like cake and pie, but I like more different kinds of cake than pie, therefore by default that puts me into #TeamCake.
- I also fix cars a bit. Usually my wife's. It saves time and money as well as time.

I'm Andy. Born in Orlando, raised in Hampton, VA, currently reside in Charlotte, NC. I was a BIT major and also received my masters in ACIS during my time in God's Country. I applied to Tech via the early decision process and never looked back. I try to make it up to Blacksburg at least once or twice for a game and at least once or twice during the summer for trip to the Cascades or New River.
Red Velvet cake/cheesecake combo is my favorite and I can eat mexican food every day.

This is what being a Hokie is all about. You have never even set foot on campus and were about to embrace the spirit. There are very few other schools that people are able to embrace without ever experiencing it in some sort of tangible way. Get to Blacksburg one day and you will be shown not only a beautiful campus but the best people on earth. Beers downtown are on me.
I'm Joe. I grew up in Franklin, VA which is just South of Suffolk in the SE corner of the state. I joined the army and left for basic one month after graduating from high school 17.5 years ago. I've spent almost my entire career in the state of GA (Savannah is by far the best place to be stationed) with the exception of deployments and a 3 year gig in Colorado Springs which was amazing but I longed to be back in the south. I currently live in Smiths Station, AL which is just across the Chattahoochee river from GA and I'm stationed at FT Benning, GA.
I love playing golf and drinking Bulleit bourbon, sometimes together. I'm set to retire soon and have no idea what I plan on doing I just know my wife says I have to find another job and since she's a unicorn I listen to her. We have two boys that can be little assholes sometimes but mean the world to us. My yellow lab is my best friend and my wifes yorkie is a bitch except when she's sleeping under my back at night.

I'm Robert . Born and raised in a tiny town in south Texas . I did not go to school at Tech or ever been to the state of VIrginia yet . I've been a die hard Tech fan since Vick. I became a fan of Tech because how the team carried themselves and just loved seeeing the defense beat the crap out of people .Graduated from Texas A&M -Kingsville.d2 college but include some really rich history of talented football players such as Darrell Green, John Randle , Gene Upshaw . Also coach Buzz was an assistant coach her briefly here while getting his masters . Vince Hall was also born here . Salt water fishing is the way to go and currently making my own home brew.

It is conveniently (or inconveniently?) on my way home from work every day so I frequent it quite often. They also had one called the Belgium Quad that was brewed in red wine casks. I was blown away by that one, about as unique and tasty as anything I have ever had.

The reverse pass to Cunningham reminded me of the TD pass from LT3 to DJ Coles a few years back. Not sure if that one came off of speed option action though.
Regarding the option reads that Evans has on most plays, we haven't seen the smash route concept that Lefty used a lot have we? Brewer got burned on those several times. Interceptions or making the wrong read. It seems that Fuente and Corn do a good job of having plays that build off of each other, and that involve simple reads for Evans to make. Or maybe not simple, but reads that he can make on a more consistent basis.
Also, how would you evaluate Pass Pro so far? Evans seems to have time, passing game is thriving, and not giving up too many sacks. Aside from UT game, my amateur eye is telling me we've improved in this area. What say you?

Awesome, I'll have to check it out! There's a good shop up by my parents place in Frederick, but that's a little far to go unless I plan of being up that way. Where in Courthouse is it?
Let me know if you need help with the kegerator. I helped a friend in put one together a few years ago. His was a little different though.. It was a full size fridge that he put two taps on for two pony kegs, and then swapped out the condenser for the freezer so he could use it for general beer storage without exploding bottles.
And definitely check out Westover. It's legit. A little pricey but they have most things you can think of, and unless it's a one-off special release they can usually order it if you talk to the manager.
