French - great write-up. Thank you. Two questions for you:
1) The play where Ford runs the slant and McMillan goes to the flat. How would a defense stop that? Is there no choice but to give up one of the two options, or should we expect to see teams run some type of zone to take away both? Like a traditional cover 2, where the corner takes McMillan in the flat and the LB stays inside to take the slant, with a safety over the top in case Ford goes deep?
2) On ECU's QB Power where Bud overloads the weak side - what happens if that play actually goes strong side, and the weakside guard follows the 2 H-backs to lead the way for Summers on the strong-side QB power? Are we completely out of position to stop it?

Go ahead and watch the first two games for some perspective on that season. The Cincy game was particularly nasty. Cold, wet, miserable game. I immediately went out and bought $300 worth of rain gear so I wouldn't be that uncomfortable again. As the season unfolded, however, the feeling was that we were arriving, and after that Sugar Bowl, even Texas had to agree that VT was legitimately a top tier team. It was a long time coming, and those of us who endured the previous decades of mediocrity were especially rewarded for sticking it out. Watch that UVA game twice, though. It was glorious in its outcome, but the way we dashed their hopes was really cool. While you may not see the famous "Joe Geick (SP?) leg out to trip our return man" on the interception that sealed the deal, I can assure you that there wasn't a hoo in the house that didn't immediately deflate like a three day old condom thrown in the weeds on the bank of the New River. Oh joy, oh rapture!

Egbert is obviously the go-to guy for brewing questions, but I have learned a lot over the past year or two. The key is patience since sours take a lot of time (unless you do quick kettle souring which doesn't give the same depth of flavor).

I am originally from Abingdon. Curt Newsome is the head coach where I played football in college, and that makes me said. I miss Weaver's Store slaw dogs and Pals more than you know. I am also a strong advocate for Jersey Mikes to move into the New River Valley.
I know CJF's goal is to prepare players to put the team in position to win games, but is this mentality going to hurt QBs in the system when/if they have pro potential? Hopefully Paxton lynch succeeds and that can be used as a selling point if that point gets brought up negatively in recruiting.
Absolutely go to The Brew Shop in Courthouse. They are the only brew shop in Arlington and they also sell beer and growler fills!
I have never been to Westover Market, but now that I've looked at it I have to go sometime!
Speaking of kegging, I have a chest freezer with a temp controller that I need to convert into a kegerator. For now I just have kegs and my CO2 tank sitting in it.

My wife is the same way. I won't eat cheese, ranch, sour cream etc, she won't eat eggs. The difference of course is all of the former are a supremely unhealthy waste of calories, whereas eggs are the perfect breakfast food. I still somehow lose this argument constantly and I become the weird one.
I spend more time thinking about it than going. I have only made it down there twice this year. Going Sunday if things pan out.

I tried to keep the games lined up across each channel. The bold games are locked in. "ACC TBD" of course refers to the three ACC games that have not been announced. I just used the shorthand to show what the available timeslots are.

I assume these were the two ECU touchdowns. On the first one, it was Alexander against the ECU receiver one on one. Edmunds was the safety to that side, and I think the QB looked him over to the trips side, so Edmunds wasn't in position to help Alexander. Alexander was playing inside leverage, and it was an intentional under-throw. Alexander got kind of tangled up and the receiver made a great adjustment.
On the second touchdown, the Hokies were playing a normal cover 2 (corner in the short zone and the safety over the top), which, if you watched the game closely, isn't something they seem to run much. More often, Facyson would drop off deep and the safety would play the shorter zone.
On that play, Facyson was in the short zone. Nelson threw the fade in between the corner and the safety. Edmunds took a poor angle (if you give you the catch, you have to keep it in front of you) and the receiver was off to the races.
Edmunds had a tough day, and that isn't surprising given that he was playing his first game as a safety against a passing attack that strives to put safeties into bad match ups. As he gains experience, he will get better (and he has been pretty good most of the time.)
I spend alot of my free time trying to figure out how to get down to OBX as often as you do to fish. Oregon Inlet will always be one of my favorite spots.

I've been a Hokie all my life. Grew up in Radford (played for the legend Coach Lineburg). My dad was a personnel director at VT for 27 years, so I was exposed early. I've moved around a bit since graduating, and was 1 of 14 in the Kansas City Hokie Club before moving "back" to the east coast and settling in NoVa (Falls Church/Bailey's Crossroad). I married a Villanova grad...so football season is pretty one sided in our household. Have my 6-year old son pretty well brainwashed. Let's hope it sticks. Work in downtown DC in commercial real estate.

Yep! I remember you. Stephen is very well rounded, more than I was at his age. Bristol was a good time, despite the game. We met a lot of good people there.
Used to be in bands. Absolutely hated having to perform Rocky Top. Once got booed off the stage when playing in front of a bunch of WVA fans because I wouldn't do Country Roads, then later that same evening, booed off the stage because I wouldn't sing Rocky Top. Band leader was pissed, but a man's gotta have some standards.
I am Andrew, and I am recent grad from VT from the Industrial Design program (the same one Kevin Jones went to). I just moved to Richmond for my first job. Since I am new to the area i am in need of things to do/people to do things with!
Sour cream is cheese level vile. As is ranch dressing, egg yolks, and mayonaisse. Aged beef has not gone bad, so no discrepancy there. The only reason people eat cheese is because they've been eating cheese. Once you step away from it for a while it starts to taste as it should, rotten nasty crap.
