Guessing 3:30 on ABC regional
Did they fire Grimes as well? Or is he staying on their staff for now?
I couldn't agree more, especially the part about the lose lose. If we lose to them, everyone (rightfully) goes apes as to the state of the program, are we relevant at all? etc. but if we beat them no one bats an eye. Having them on the schedule for this long makes no sense. I would much rather play Ohio State every year, even if that means losing a number of games along the way. At least that game is enjoyable for both fan bases. Does anyone from either ECU or VT even look forward to that game every year?
I don't want to find out.
He is the definition of slick salesman recruitnik scumbag*.
That didn't fly out west, but it just might be enough to get him the job in the SEC.
* on the spectrum of college football coaches. Obviously they all are salesmen selling a dream. But some people keep getting hired because they can actually coach. He keeps getting hired because he can establish relationships... with boosters willing to donate piles of cash directly to players.
Not to congratulate myself, but I also made posts that the Loeffler hire was bad when it occurred, and predicted that it would be an unfortunate end of Beamer's career. Of course, this was met with a lot of white knighting on behalf of Loeffler, which didn't make much sense unless it was just blind optimism. I was much more optimistic with the Fuente hire, and so far the results are already showing tons of improvement even though his system isn't even fully installed yet. It's not only controlling emotions that is a difference between Loeffler and Fuente, but it's also teaching execution and having an accurate quarterback who doesn't sit in the pocket for an eternity on every pass play.
That was my train of thought. +1. I thought we were just discussing active coaches.
Chip Kelly left to dodge NCAA investigations and because ego about his style being able to be successful at the NFL level (Spurrier syndrome)
As unfortunate as that may be, flipping the bird in North End Zone is more than common. So we can't say but so much about the classiness of ECU's fanbase, at least in that respect.

In honor of ol' Les Miles...
well when you're blocking your own players on a safety maybe the refs let one slide

TKP is a space and a community for a designated purpose. Sports often intersects with culture and politics in profound ways but we all find other outlets for these important and often rich conversations (or not). It is difficult sometimes not to have them here because it's such a smart, thoughtful, and always humorous community. But to Joe's credit, one of the reasons the site works as well as it does in building community is because we do not do politics here.
Unfortunately Coach Fu lives in the real world of humans (college aged male humans at that) where sports, culture and politics exists not as distinct entities but inextricably intertwined with one another. That is a tricky place to be a leader. Once again though, Coach Fu seems to have a reasoned and rational approach to a complex topic. I am grateful that our university is so fortunate to continually have this kind of leadership. Certainly not all are so lucky.
Edit fixed typo
Check the "block" at the right. I was seeing this all game. I remember at one point Ekanem got grabbed by the front collar and damn near pulled off his feet and it was a no-call. It could have been much worse for ECU were any of these holds being called:

I wonder how Fu thinks of OU. He did transfer from there.
ECU fans are a classy bunch.
Last year on my way from Raleigh to Blacksburg for the game I'm flying my VT flags. I got smoked by a car full of ECU sorority sisters all flipping the bird out the window.
Needless to say I was hoping for a Lee Corso style lightning bolt.

Yeah, that was a pretty fucking bad ass highlight reel.
And we're only 1/3 the way through the season.
Think about that.
UPvotes for days
We knew Can Cameron very well in Baltimore. When I saw Miles hire him I knew it was just a matter of time.
I knew there was a reason I don't like Coke
There's two of them doing it
I used to think it would be a dumb idea. But after seeing them not develop qb talent and squander butt loads of talent, I agree with the decision. They bring in just as much talent as Bama...it's unreal.
Second row, all the way on the right, the celebration in the end zone. You can see an ECU fan flipping the bird. Hilarious.
Sorry for some reason I can't watch VT Football without Skillet in the background
Hoo doesn't?
James Gayle hates UVA

Heard Drew Harris was interested in enrolling and Lawson is ok not starting just to be part of this hype!
