Also their defense is pretty bad, and our offense is light years ahead of where it has ever been. I have full confidence that we can keep pace in shoot out if needed.

I looked up the stats from last year's game and Switzer was held to 46 Receiving yds, -5 punt return yds on 3 punts, and 1 rush for 1 yd last year. Hoping we can lock him down again like that.

This ^, and more this ^. Getting off the field on 3rd down coupled with minimizing the big plays.

Go Hokies!

I'm not sure if there is a definite kryptonite to a spread other than winning individual battles, and I'd hope Bud has learned over the last 5 years what works and wht doesn't work against the spread.

The spread offense attempts to isolate your better athletes against hopefully a worse athlete on defense. Our defense versus their offense athletically seems like a wash. But I don't know much about the UNC offense other than Trubisky, Switzer and their RB. We just need to individually out-effort UNC which Fuente and the rest of the staff seem perfectly capable of inspiring VT to do so. The battle I can't wait to see is Mook versus Switzer. Mook visibly plays with emotion and an aggression that I love, but I can see an opposing player that is as good as Switzer getting inside Mook's head as much as Mook gets into an opponents head. It is going to be a fun game.

Spread offenses attack the perimeters of the defense to loosen the middle of the field up. They force defenses into simple defenses due to tempo. They aren't mirror images, but they have a ton of similarities.

Bud held that offense to 17 points in both 2013 and 2014, I think he knows the kryptonite

This will take a better Xs and Os guy than me to answer, but does Fuente's offense have significant similarities to Fedora's?

When you look at the numbers, 2015 was a marked improvement over the first two years of Lefty's tenure at VT. 31.0 points per game,up from 24.1. Yards per play up to 5.33, from 4.93. Lefty did find some measure of success in his last season. But the problem was the lack of consistency. We put up 55 against Tulsa but 13 against Pitt. There was just too much hot and cold. And I think that's just as attributable to the culture of our program in Frank's declining years as it is to Lefty's overly complex and often stubborn offense.

Lane Kiffin just tweeted: LSU is my DREAM job! Gow Tigerz Geaux Tigers!

(I'd have to assume Lane would do at least a minimal amount of research)

I stopped doing anything with the blog as soon as Loeffler was hired. For about the last year, though, I switched over to a comment system that had automod. Considering the blog's topic, as you can imagine, I started to get some real SEC-level deranged bullshit in the comments section, and Blogspot's default comment system was worthless for moderating comments. One of the features of the automod was that reported comments got temporarily removed until I reviewed them. And I stopped reviewing anything after Stiney was demoted and Lefty was hired, because I felt the blog had run its course. You might have been a victim of that.
