Yes, I do agree with that. If he keeps up a pace of 10 touchdowns for every interception, I think he's got a shot.

there are typically 8 heisman candidates per year.

Jackson, McCaffrey, and Watson are probably locks at this point. Barrett, Chubb, Houston QB are also likely. Hokies need to become relevant, though, for Evans to make it. Stats through 3 games are looking good so far.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not really sure how I could have been any more cautious in my wording. If Evans manages to maintain this level of performance (huge if), I can't imagine he won't be in the conversation to get an invite to New York.

I know CBF has read these sites. Years ago before the advent of KP, there was a traveling hokie show that had Bud visiting the Raleigh NC area. At some point near the end, he asked who "Raleigh Hokie" was and if he was in attendance. Seems he read TechSideline and Raleigh was a regular analyst who really was dialed into Bud's defense.... He's a lot less active now with his growing family and I miss his feedback. Having French here for the offense is definitely a big part of what made me pony up to Key Player status.

I'm a Marshall student, and our football team plays Louisville Saturday. After watching them give up 65 points to Akron a couple days ago, I really think Jackson might shatter every single game record ever set by a quarterback.

Let's wait until we get 3 or 4 games into the ACC schedule before we start hyping him up that much... I think that it's a good start, but the ACC is a totally different situation

I thought Miami adopted the all orange uniform for their players so they would get practice for their careers after school...

insert orange jumpsuit photo.

As the SI cover indicated, MV7 Sparked the revolution at QB. MV7 is now the comparison bar for elite dual threat QBs.

So go ahead MV7 and ESPN, you're doing a great job of putting that VT logo out there for the nation to see every time the talking heads make the comparison!!!

It's not out of the realm of possibility to say Evans would be a darkhorse Heisman candidate if he sustains this level of play over the course of the season.

French (or any one else that knows): Wife and I are heading to NC coast with fellow Hokies next week. We have a house just south of the Nags Head pier. Gonna do some surf fishing and maybe a charter trip in the sound. So a few questions considering your couple of posts immediately above.

1. Bait of choice for surf species you mentioned above in NC? I see you mention bloodworm fishbites. In Central FL we used fresh or frozen cut clams and sand fleas (if available) on bottom rigs for the bottom species. Sometimes shrimp (but that brings a lot of smaller species). Cut ladyfish chunks worked great for Reds in CFL also.

1a. How small of hooks? 1/O or 2/O?

2. There are some groins in the surf near the house we are using. I think there are drainage pipes under them. I would think the bottom contour there could help the current flow and attract some fish. My experience is Central FL East coast, so these features just naturally draw my attention. What about on NC coast?

2a. Does the fresh water runoff (if present) hurt or help these locations in the NC area? (Note: In the Indian River and near ocean inlets in CFL, small fresh water runoff would attract reds and snook.)

3. The surf in front of our house has a ~150 yard trough right at the surf with a pretty substantial sandbar offshore. In CFL, this trough would be the focus for Reds, Black drum, sheepshead, jacks (great fun!), whiting (aka, sea mullet), and snook. The sandbar (and beyond) would be the target for Pompano and sometimes Cobia and Kings. Does a trough like this in NC hold fish similarly (I know, no snook)? Or is it just a waste of time?

4. Last Question: If I caught a small croaker (say 3-6" long) and then put him out live on a carolina rig in the trough I mentioned above, would that be fruitful for reds? (Note: This would be deadly for reds and snook in CFL.)

Thanks for the help! Go Hokies! ECU must go down!

I honestly think this going to be the best team we have played this year so far. I think ECU is a better team then Tenn. We lost to Tenn due to turnovers and penalties, not because they beat us.

As mentioned before, this will be a good test of the players resolve, because unless the secondary plays lights out ECU will score points.

Since da U is wearing throwback white unis when they play us, we should wear AME throwbacks, circa 1999, right?
