Yeah I like that bit about the overreaction society. So true. I also LOVED this part on Cam and playing time.

I think there is a big difference in "taking pleasure in the dismantling of Lefty's offense" and blatantly laughing at him personally and hoping for his future failure. (not saying you specifically are) And to be honest I don't understand it, Chris.

What Lefty promised to VT or didn't promise is irrelevant. What Lefty accomplished or didn't accomplish is also irrelevant. Ultimately he was selected and hired by Frank Beamer. Despite the inability to reinvigorate our offense he produced one of VT's highest profile wins EVER. Despite not have much success at QB he coached and called a team that was in the gutters of rebuilding, kept them bowling along the way and restocked the QB, WR and TE coffers.

But most importantly, this guy was a Hokie. He respected the program. He worked his ass off day and night while having a new born watching tape, sleeping in the office, etc for this program. No matter his ability or inability at producing an effective offense or calling a good game, that should demand some measure of mutual respect.

I agree with the ire towards Stinespring, and I agree with the ire at O'Cain, because they were the instruments of destruction. But I only agree with that ire in the sense that they needed to be replaced or removed from the position they were in. Not that their failures wherever they ended up following VT should be a point of prideful ridicule. Fuente is coming into VT under different circumstance than Lefty did. No, I don't believe Lefty would produce a 49-0 against BC with VT as Fuente just did. But he slogged through the years the program was at it's lowest in 2 decades and kept us over 50%.

Much like a player such as Trey Edmunds transferring to Maryland. He was productive here but became overshadowed and decided to leave. That guy is still a Hokie to me, he wasn't the next great RB for us, but he put in the work for me to respect that he had to make the decision he did. I support that and I support his success at a program I very much despise. I still want to see the Hokie defense shut him down for negative yards, but if/when that happens, I'm not going to laugh at the guy and pour salt on the wound.

That has to apply to Lefty as well.

Beyond that we here on TKP are always talking about how we are some of the classiest fans around. We shame other Hokies that display crassness. And outright troll fans from less savory programs constantly. Aren't we better than assigning Lefty the same "lol" preface that we give to the one school we will, no matter the circumstance, want to kick in the teeth? I think we are.

Lets be gracious in our win and shake the man's hand, wish him well for the rest of the season and go about our business.

That's fair, but it happens with how statistics are tracked.

For example, our fumbles in in our own RZ against Tenn, are points on the board that our defense may not have given up.

Or say Jerod happened to throw a pick-6, that would effect our Scoring Defense. The stats would show that the defense allowed 6 points that they weren't even on the field for. And on the flip side, the opposing offense gets credit statistically for 6 points that their defense scored.

TL;DR - Some stats don't tell the whole story.

This sub has the potential to be a great, and printed / taped to one of three walls...Jackson, Foster, or Evans. I'm saving it in unrealistic hope that it one day is resolved.

Ford's catch was brilliant but it's unlikely to beat a vaunted behind the back catch. Noah Brown's behind the back one hander was pretty incredible.

Now that we have an offense with an identity where if you play within the system you will be productive, I expect all our QB records to be shattered as long as we have this offense. Easy to wonder what if with the talents we have had at QB in the past with those defenses, but we finally have something to look forward to with this offense, something we've been grasping at straws for the last few years. And that, that is very exciting.

Damn that was a cold game, but so very awesome
