Agreed. The "Terror Dome" was about more than just noise. It was about an atmosphere where opposing teams were afraid they wouldn't get out alive -- a la Syracuse when we hung 60+ on them. That's when we coined "Terror Dome".

It's just not a scary / intimidating venue any longer.

Can it be again? I think so. But, it is as much about the attitude of the VT team you're facing as it is about the noise being made in the stands.

I have my own #sauces unrelated to that twitter guy, who say the Foster and Loeffler did not get along at all last year. That is my #1 reason that I wish Beamer had picked a different OC. Can't imagine that was fun for Coach Beamer to spend his last couple years with his top assistants butting heads constantly. Well, that and Loeffler's offense was too complex to be teachable at the college level. Underclassmen have to be able to contribute.

I don't know specifics, so I can't confirm or deny twitter guy's commentary on that halftime incident. Anyway, my #sauces expect Foster to be very focused on shutting down BC in this game.

The only source for that information came from one guy on Twitter who tended to spout out "insider info" that usually ended up being wrong. I don't see any reason to put stock in such stuff. The staff was undoubtedly stressed with how the season was going, but stories of wars among the assistants just sounds ridiculous to me, especially when the guy spreading that news is...less than reputable.

For all of the talk in the media this past week regarding Bud and Lefty, did anybody get the scoop on why Lefty and Searles didn't go into the locker room at the half? As I recall from this board I believe, there was definite strife between the coaches that night. It seemed to be between Bud and Lefty. Never really heard much else about it that season. Could this be the grudge match been coming for awhile?

main takeways which I like:

Virginia Tech owns the advantage for two main reasons.

1. Boston College will be facing the best defense its seen all year:

Foster's unit is fast and ball hungry. Georgia Tech holds the 9th-best defense in the ACC, and the Eagles could only score 14 points in the opener. In that game, the Eagles were just 6-of-14 on third down, and Virginia Tech currently ranks second in the ACC stopping its opponent on third down (5 conversions on 28 attempts). BC quarterback Patrick Towles finished the Georgia Tech games with 137 yards, no touchdowns and an interception, and the Hokies boast the No. 3 pass defense in the country. This matchup favors the Hokies all day long.

2. The Eagles haven't seen an up tempo offense:

UMass attempted to go fast at times, but obviously it never worked. While the 2015 Boston College defense was one of the best in the nation, when it struggled most, it was against high-tempo offenses. The Hokies' offense hasn't been great so far, but we have seen flashes of brilliance. While BC thrives against the rush, it has already shown vulnerability against the pass — and that was against a run heavy offense in Georgia Tech. I expect this to be the game Justin Fuente's offense finds its rhythm. Let's just hope there isn't any repeat of last week's turnover parade.

I bitched on Ludwig in another thread. Someone pointed out that he only had one really bad punt. The rest were at least north of 30 yards.

Ya know, that one he rugby-styled around our own 15 yard line which seemed to be a free touchdown for UT when they recovered. This was probably our most solid defensive stand, even after a roughing the passer call on 3rd and long to give UT another try. Maybe we should avoid rugby style punts within our own 20, considering the increase in chance it hits somebody during air time and our limited 2016 history of fumble recoveries.
