We shall see, the people around me were mostly people who bought the ticket from the season ticket holder. The regulars in that section may not like me.
I was in the East student section yesterday and I don't think there was ever a lull in paper airplanes being thrown. People would also just throw the programs (more often that I was expecting honestly). It's funny, but annoying.
Also, a turkey leg got thrown?? After our first touchdown I saw it flying through the air.
I was able to give 4 of those damn things a proper burial. Personally I can't stand that behavior. I'll be keeping a tally of how many I "decommission" over the course of the season.

They've been playing that portion of the VPI VIctory March for first downs for long time. But yeah, it looks like they will have to make some adjustments.
Did anyone notice that the offense is ranked #52 in total yards, and ranked in the top half of the NCAA for the first time in a long time? Also, the defense is ranked #9, which is impressive even though it's just the first game against a weak opponent.
The bit they play after first downs now has the fans chant "Go Tech" twice, then spelling and yelling "HOKIES" at the end. I mentioned to my friends that they might need to cut it to just the "HOKIES" part soon.
Cool! I worked 10 last year for theOSU game and the biggest complaint I got was people demanding I tell the fans in front of them to sit down. Glad to hear you didn't have that issue.
10. My first and last year over there. Can't afford it under new system. But for my 1st season with season tickets I liked it. No one told me to sit down at least.
I think the Marching Virginians need to make an adjustment regarding our more up tempo offense. Multiple times yesterday, especially after 1st downs, they seem to be playing threw the snap. Is this just me wanting more silence while the offense has the ball, or is there something that could change a little to mitigate some of the overlap? I know we didn't struggle with presnap penalties yesterday, but that could change with a tougher opponent. Former MVs, what do you think?
Just curious Fireman, what section of West were you in? I work Section 6 nearly every game, so was wondering if you were in 6 by chance.

Like Joe said, that should definitely be a combination block on the 1 technique if it is needed. He does have a hand out there (towards the 1) but since he doesn't feel anything early, he moves on. The 1 tech, for some reason, didn't threaten the A-gap at all on the snap. He just waited at the snap and tried to catch Gallo and Gallo initially actually does a good job (Which actually gave a Teller the green light to move to next level) but the 1 is able to extend his arms and get off the block. It is actually a bit strange because the DT played it like he was in a 0 technique instead of how it would be generally played by a 1 tech.
Nijman just didn't make good contact off the ball at all and lost badly. He was not very good in the running game all day.

Yeah this was my first game back in the East in a couple years and it was very noticeable.
On another note, the new numbers on the jerseys provide much better visibility from the stands, and I honestly didn't think they clashed with the design at all. I'm rewatching the game now and I'm liking our look, esp. those helmet stripes.

My 2 cents, Evans made all the correct decisions, he just needs reps to get that pitch down, hit those long balls, and "feel" the rush instead of looking for it. Evans is big, good throwing motion, and had the zone read perfect when we ran it.
Motley was actually making the right reads too, and overall, his accuracy looked to be better than Evans, though not as "Brady-like" on those under 20 throws, and he isn't as big or quick on those reads.
We definitely hid our offense, but not by hiding the scheme. We ran all the plays we'll see, and limited the number of the more likely to be centerpiece plays, and used weird personnel groups...or maybe intentionally misused them? Examples: Using Rogers on outside runs. Not using Bucky for most of the game. Using McMillan on inside runs and McKenzie on outside runs. I'm really hoping they were using this game to continue evaluations and personnel groups. Either way, when we ran the plays we should run with the players we should use to run them, the results were markedly better.
Defense, looked solid. Mihota is sooo much better at contain. Fayscon was either taking plays off or just not there yet cause he wasn't lock-down, just better than most corners. Stroman...wow. Motu. Motu. Motu. I really wish we could just put Carson Lydon or whoever the guy is in already? Yeah, Motu was better, he was attacking, his positioning wasn't horrible and put hits on guys when he could. He didn't wrap-up. It's like we can't fix one thing for something else going wrong, he's the weak link again.
Considering it's the Sunday before Labor Day all the fans at my workplace are quiet as well
