Plot twist.
It depends on the stunt. There are essentially four gaps of space. The edge players, which could be the ends or the tackles on a stunt (or even a blitzing edge linebacker/whip) have to maintain contain. They also have to minimize the distance between them and the players responsible for the interior gaps.
The reality is, Dadi (with an injury) was getting too far up field. The ends in general have pretty much had a tendency to get out of their passing lane since Chris Ellis and Orion Martin left. I don't know if the combination of Ekanem and Mihota are on par with Ellis and Martin, but the way they are used should be similar to those defensive schemes.

but- is Vinny a bigger version of a Noland Burchette? I think that if he can be Noland Burchette, we are fine.
Again, those twist stunts and collapsing the pocket were the staple of those two #1 defenses when they didn't have an edge burner like Moore or Dadi.

2) Ultimately, if the offense is ugly and scores, so be it. Watching from an aesthetic standpoint, it is critical to understand that Fuente put up huge numbers at Memphis without an offensive line blowing people up. The offense worked because the design and layering of plays causes defenders to be out of position. Memphis didn't "whip" Ole Miss. Ole Miss defenders were running out of position and the ball went into the space that the defender had vacated.
It better work. I get the feeling that the beat writers are ready to shred Fuente because of the limited access. The fan base is embittered and expects results. Beamer at least had an old guard that understood how much he had advanced the program and was willing to defend him even when the on the field product dipped. Fuente has engendered excitement, but he doesn't have long term credit built up with that core fan base. And Fuente will likely lose Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges after this season- two generational talents. I preach patience and I think he will prove to be a tremendous hire. And they may be awesome right out of the gate (I refuse to believe they won't be improved as long as they get decent QB play.)

what are the Dt and mike responsibilities when rushing the passer? Specifically, how does foster ensure that massive gaps don't form for qbs to escape through. It seemed like last year Dadi's issue of going too far up field was exacerbated by other players being out of position.
Not sure you're really implying this, maybe its just how I read it. But this isn't a chicken or the egg question. Winning games builds the culture for a fan-base, nothing else and it must come first. I guarantee everything you mentioned comes right back next year if we win 11+ games this year. Doubt and apprehension come from losing and changes. We lost many games and made lots of changes so there is a lot of unknown and not much confidence in the fanbase this year. But the flipside of that is, of course, optimism. And I think I speak for most when I say we're brimming with it.
So, I have a confession to make. I attended a birthday party on Saturday. My friend spent way more than he should have on entertaining us (versus us entertaining him) and he ordered Papa John's pizza. In order not to make a fuss, I forced myself to eat 3 pieces of Papa Johns with sausage, pepperoni, and yes, cheese. Fortunately for me, Papa John's has the most bland, tasteless cheese, so I was able to force it down without anyone but Ms. Susie Cue noticing. That is only the second cheese I have knowingly eaten since 2011, and it was painful.
I've never been anywhere that you could sense open hostility towards USA. Tension for sure in some Middle Eastern countries and parts of Indonesia, but nothing openly threatening just because I am from the States. I have never been in a warring state to date, and don't plan to be.
Usually most everyone is pretty gracious on their own and would be so with almost anyone. Some members of my wife's family are military, low ranking, but they buy into the propaganda of USA meddling hook line and sinker. Some times they will start saying some things against USA but usually only when they are drunk. Most of that is just ignorance though.
the only prejudice I ever experienced was primarily in my younger days with males of different countries who weren't too keen on me hitting on the local talent while out and about. Have had more than a few take swings at me. One time a guy brought an entire gang of 20+ guys to beat me up because I unknowingly "stole" his girlfriend.
So awesome. Despite some not liking them,
feel like they were a great choice.
Agreed I believe last year UT ranked 92nd in offensive passing.

1. Notre Dame's baby puke green.
2. WVU's helmet stickers. God, but it with fire like everything else in your state.

We were killed by that because we ran so much man coverage, our LBs and DBs had their back to the play running with their man. If we can actually get back to more zone, that limits the amount the QBs can get chunk yards on us
