And this could be our happy daily reminder that Boston College hired Scot Loeffler.
VT vs FSU, 99
getting close to the sun leaves a burn that you remember forever. I had a great time though.
Same here. I would love to blow their doors off, but a win is a win.
Let's make a special note how poorly the former Nebraska QB, with no pass rush, managed to under-throw that ball/throw behind the receiver. Yikes...
I just hope he has added to the stunt.
Yeah no kidding, could you imagine this "no talent short kid" in Fuente's system?
Speculation... This is a secret ploy by Fuente and Shibest to encourage every player to play their hardest and earn a spot on special teams and potentially the honor of wearing the jersey all to boost that phase of the game and bring Beamerball back to Blacksburg.

Nope. I will take a win by 1 point every damn game.
We need to focus on executing Fuente's sceme, not worry about what other teams records are or become. We cannot control that, just how we play. If we go out and play smart, strong and consistant, I call that a win. I know others' records are important in ranking, but we cannot control their outcomes. If we prove ourselves, them we can start to posture for added recognition.
Christopher Alexander can write a lot about very little things for sure, but the key thing to get from it is that most things function better when it is designed and built with a set "language" (patterns, tiers, layers, etc) that define what it is.
Once you get the gist you can start to recognize how the best designs always follow his principle though perhaps not his methodology or vocabulary. It is a good book for designers to know and understand. But infinitely more fun is watching William Whyte's study on public spaces which basically says the same thing.

who does your father work for if you don't mind saying?
Worried!? Really!?

Seriously, though, I'm more worried about Fuente showing ALL the cards in a massive blow out, then getting carcass handed by the Vols. I've said it before, I would rather a close to the chest game against Lib, then an ALL-OUT including the fridge and kitchen sink at Bristol that makes them shat their-selves and lose in front of everybody. But that's just me.
I'm oddly very calm about this game, and even this season. And not because I think we'll be great. I just fully expect it will take a while (several games? a season or two?) to adjust to a new HC and offense. I fully expect to see some great, some average, and some poor play which could equate to some unexpected losses and surprising wins.
One thing I'm most intrigued by is how well will Foster's defense do. It's been in an arguable state of decline for the past several years. Will that trend continue? If so, it could be a long season. But if Foster is re-energized (not sure I saw that in the press conference footage yesterday, mind you - maybe just tired from all the effort he's put into this off-season, i hope), and he and his staff are indeed pushing the kids harder than they have in a while, it could be fun to see our D give this O time to fulfill its promise and potential.
You know...morons
Agreed. I think it's been fair all along to say VInny doesn't fit the mold of what we've generally had at DE over the last several years, which is what most suggested with him being at DT. Having said that it seems the coaches are altering what they want out of that position and now it potentially makes sense to have someone like him there. I hope he kills it, but I still think we're going to see plenty of Hill/Gaines when we really need to create a pass rush.
Oh, sank you docteh

While I too love the idea of the #25 jersey and know that special teams was Frank's pride and joy, I'd like to see it expanded to more if not all positions. Frank did so much for the whole team/program I think any player should be able to get the honor to respect what CFB accomplished.
I had at least 3 if not 4...
Probably explains why I gained 35lbs from the start of Freshman year through Thanksgiving of Freshman year.
Corey Fuller has been added to "PUP" list by Detroit Lions. Not a good thing.
If you absolutely had to pick a cheese of which you would eat an amount equivalent to one (1) Kraft slice (approx 3.5in. x 3.5in., 20g, less than 1oz), what cheese would it be?
I feel like 15 points would be a good margin, if we don't give up
more than 15.
Was gonna say, I understand this is potentially out of context and that certain guys are always better fits than others in certain schemes, but this just strikes me as a really poor attitude for a coach to have towards recruiting.
as long as it's black, respect.
I'm jacked up this morning. The coffee is going down smooth.

This was the trick with Dennard Rob in the Sugar Bowl. For the most part, we contained him very well. If not for the special teams mishaps and offensive turn-overs, we would have run away in that game. This is a sound game plan for VT against UT but you have to bet their coaches know this and also know how to counter. Let the chessmatch begin!
