I think thats why the hiring of Hilgart has been an under the radar hire. Almost every player interviewed said they were in the best shape of their life. I think that will help for the transition to uptempo spread.
Sounds like the social media folks having more fun with the live streaming feature on Facebook. If it were something more serious they'd probably go about it in a more reserved way, like a press release.
I see no reason why a QB would be announced at this point. Stranger things have happened, but I really don't get the cryptic vibe with a tweet like this:

If your defense creates a lot of 3 and out's the offense will get more plays. Does that mean they are better offense than one with a defense that cannot get off the field? If special teams constantly gets you great field positions you may not need many plays to score. Does that mean the offense is not as good? The offense does not have that much control over how often or where they get ball. A hurry up offense may get the ball a couple more times by allowing more possessions per game, but the defense, the other offensive style, and special teams probably have a larger effect. Having more plays likely does mean you are not going three out, and may wear down other teams, and other factors leading to scoring, but a more explosive offense might consistently need fewer plays to score. The job of the offense is to score when they get the ball, where ever on the field they get it. How can you have a better measure for an offense than how well they do that? Using any other metric brings in a lot of variables outside of the control of the offense, though can idea on what types of offense may be better at scoring.
BMS and Anheuser-Busch popped the top on the news today, revealing Bud Light's new status as the official domestic beer of the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol. As part of the sponsorship, Bud Light will present country music stars Sam Hunt, Jon Pardi, Dalton & the Sheriffs, and Alyssa Micaela on Saturday, Sept. 10. Existing ticket holders will have access to the concerts at no additional charge.
In addition to the concerts, Anheuser-Busch's presence will include two sizeable on-site fan attractions. The Bud Light Down South Tailgate Tour will debut the ultimate college football tailgate experience at the Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol, making its first of 11 stops this college football season. Highlights include a climate-controlled bar with ice-cold Bud Light, luxury tour bus with roof deck, food trucks and traditional tailgate games. Additionally, Anheuser-Busch will bring fans the Budweiser Country Club, an open-air, three-level buildout featuring elevated views, two 20-foot bars and Budweiser Signature Draught towers. Both attractions are brand-new in 2016, and are appearing at top festivals and games across the nation this year.

Actually, our cross-division slate does kinda do us a favor. I think we have the best chance of any team in the Coastal not have a loss to team from the Atlantic.

Generally the more plays a team runs, the more likely it is that the results will be closer to the true talent level. It's a matter of sample size and variance- the best way to overcome variance is to run lots of plays so that water eventually finds its level. If you only get 6 drives and 4 of them are punts it probably won't matter if you score TDs on the other two drives. If you get 12 drives and 8 are punts but you score TDs you'll end up with 28 points and you may yet win. Plus field position is a thing that matters, and it's likely to matter more in a game with fewer possessions. The more drives you get, the larger the margin for error. That's where the defense comes into play.
I guess my original point was that plays per game doesn't have to correlate with who wins.

I don't necessarily think more plays=victory. There are multiple ways to win. Some teams bleed clock, while other teams bury their opponents with volume. IIRC the Oregon offense under Chip Kelly would see a huge spike in their offensive efficiency after they ran 50 plays or so- once they got you on the field for that long, they'd worn you down and figured you out.
Sure. But eyeballing the OFEI stats it doesn't seem like there is a whole lot separating the 94th (VT 2015) best offense from the 60th best offense. Given our talent level, statistically we have underachieved dramatically. We managed to get points on the board last season, but we were not very efficient. I think a big improvement is achievable this year.
Maybe I should plot out some trends to see what really separates the 94th best offense from the 60th, 50th, 40th, 30th, etc.
Good thinking. If the cobia bite continues next year like the past couple, you will easily be able to get to productive waters and save gas money for spending on chum. All around the Windmill Light has been good this year, so Deltaville is a great base. If you need an extra hand, let me know. I am in Mathews just 25 minutes away.

Everybody's is. If you discount ours, you have to discount everyone else's to reset the context. Should we discount the 66 points Baylor put on Lamar? or the 70 they put on Rice? What about the 49 Clemson put on Wofford? The 70 TCU put on SFA? The 56 Bama put on Charleston Southern? Memphis averaged 49.75 ppg against their 4 OOC games last year and that included 37 against Ole Miss.
PPG is a context stat, keep the context the same for everyone.
My friends who root for Big10, Pac12, and Big12 all feel the same way about not getting respect. ESPN is not to likely to change their tune any time soon (at least not as long they have to justify paying them the most football $), but the only way to change it is to keep them from winning championships. I quit caring about what ESPN says some time ago. I just want ammo against my friends that talk crap, and a chance to beat teams that are respected. Would rather beat a down team whose fans expect to lose (excepting LOLUVA, whom I always want to beat), or beat a team whose fans have been talking trash because they think they are all that? Which loss hurts more form last year, OSU or ECU? Still just my opinion, so not better than yours, just different.
I don't think they're necessarily wrong.
But when Bosa is the last first rounder who hasn't signed, with contract details that are not dissimilar to those agreed to by the guys drafted both immediately before and after him, it makes him stick out like a sore thumb.
It doesn't mean he's in the wrong. But it sure don't mean he's in the right, either.
