They can and do alert the center ref of infractions. He then has the option to veto that if he feels he had a better view, but most of the time he defers to their judgment. This is how basically ever offside call is made, and looking at some of those calls, I feel like the Assistants in the top levels are superhuman to even see that stuff at full speed.
Plus those guys are all super fit, so I don't think a 2 ref system would cover anymore ground than the current one. They can keep up with play just fine and a 2nd ref is going to be blinded by bodies as often as a single central ref.
I am open to some sort of unintrusive replay system if they want to make a change, but only in certain circumstances such as a potential penalty kick or red card offense. I'm not sold enough on it to lobby for it, but I can see some benefits.
Yeah I could see that being the case as well, though I don't necessarily anticipate Loeffler becoming something special up there again. I could see us struggling in that game though.
Still, I don't think that justifies laughing at anyone who 'hated on' Loeffler when he was here. I think Loeffler earned that response.
Personally, I'm a big fan of this one:

Can the sideline judges call penalties?
In my playing and refereeing experience, the 2 ref system causes far more problems than it fixes. There are two assistants on the sidelines.
Why has soccer not added a second ref? This one one guy can't see the whole pitch and everything going on.
Loeffler's best year (Temple) was while he was under the direction of Steve Addazio IIRC. Now that the two are paired up again it wouldn't surprise me much at all if BC's offense takes some significant steps forward. BC has always had a stout defense.
That game actually has me pretty worried. I don't like the idea of the third game for our offense going up against what should figure to be one of the best defensive units in the nation. Couple that with the beef BC has on the O-line and we could find ourselves in trouble and potentially staring at a losing defensive battle. I wouldn't be shocked if we kept pace with Tennessee getting everyone hyped for the rest of the season and then turn around to lose a snoozer to BC at home. (By snoozer, I mean something like 13-10)
Obviously I hope that none of those things happen...I'm just saying it wouldn't shock me
Saw a greet tweet by a Brit I "know",
I Kante put my finger on what's wrong with Leicester
, I'm sure he got it from someone else in the UK but it sums it up nicely.
In only 3 games did his teams ever score less than 20 points, and one of those games was the week he interviewed for and accepted the position at Virginia Tech.
So let me make sure I'm football fanning correctly. If Pitt holds us to less than 3 TDs I need to immediately go to flight tracker and begin panicking right? Guys? Anyone?
Because that makes what he did here so much better.
I've got nothing personal against the guy, so if he does well at BC, great for him. But he was not a good hire for this program in my opinion.
As an Arsenal fan, Leicester doesn't have to do much. Arsenal is being managed by a dinosaur.

It has it's own facebook page which I believe was started by LSU fans.
Liverpool confuses me. Also thought Watford were going to sneak away with three points today. Looking like the Manchester title predictions are accurate. They both look strong. Leicester are holding it down against Arsenal but you can tell they're missing Kante.
If our O scores on every possession...no matter whether it takes 1 or 21 plays...I'm sure Bud will be fine.
I hope we get to a point where Bud has a 14 lead. When he does, they pin their ears back...and the flood of D points usually starts.

# | Freshman Josh Jackson "not really surprised" to be in the hunt for quarterback JJax is our guy for the future. I believe in him. Kinda reminds me of Tyrod in a way.
I think USC is being ridiculous. They should realize that they are gonna get absolutely ripped apart by Bama and should have stopped before they started. I'd like to see some of that trash talk between Tennessee and ND, tho.
eh.... every team comes out with t-shirts that say "Beat (insert school name here)"

I knew they do offside but just seems weird in a sport with a playing surface that is so big where players can be on the other side no where near action that 1 guy has final say on all fouls. For example how did this not get caught at the time?
Watching Leiscter game today seems like foul on Musa got missed because of angle of refs. The sideline ref was on other side also so he didn't have view of it either.
