Sorry to disagree with you, but what about this group would fall under the statement "rebuilding"? The biggest unknown is who will be QB1 but our OL and other skill positions are far from a dumpster fire. And I think for CJF, the future is now. He is not here for moral victories, he was brought here to win...NOW.
I agree with the posters that say give us the best guy to put us in position to win. Yes, it would suck for Motley if he doesn't get the shot, but I love that Coach is making these guys earn it. Accountability and consistency... competition brings out the best. Personally, it wouldn't shock me to see all 3 vs. LU unless they make the decision to redshirt JJ.

I think that's an interesting proposition. However, I don't agree that this is a rebuilding year. This is an offensive restructure with some of the best all-around talent VT has ever had on that side of the ball at one time. If Josh Jackson is the best, then play him. If he's not, don't. This team has the talent to win the division and could pull of an ACC crown, just by virtue of participating in the game. If I am Fuente, I am getting wins as early and often as possible.
If Jackson is clearly the future, but not the best now...and perhaps not even better than the 2nd string QB (depending on what's on the line) putting Jackson in as the 2nd string may be a different story, if that makes sense.

If the 3 QBs are about equal, I could see Fuente redshirting Jackson and starting Motley. Motley graduates and Jackson becomes a 4 year starter, just like Lynch.
This would mean that Evans is a two year backup, which most people won't agree is a possibility, but if one of the 3 QBs isn't head and shoulders above the others, I think it makes the most sense.
Not saying Joshua Jackson is Russell Wilson but back before the 2008 season, a r-freshman Wilson won the NC State job over three more experienced quarterbacks and a five star true freshman (Mike Glennon). Russell came into NC State a two-star prospect.
Sometimes coaches give the job to the player that gives the team the best chance to win, regardless of age or recruiting stature.

Yep, and it paid off big time for both sides despite of some rough team results the first year. Now I'm not comparing Jackson to Lynch or anything, but if he is truly the best QB in Fuente's eyes, than I have no doubt that he will be the guy against Liberty and beyond.

Not sure what to think of this. For him to have come from behind to catch the others, did they not improve as much as hoped? Lip service to Jackson because he improved so much, though still not caught up? Is Jackson the messiah? Is Fuente that committed to no position is safe? Or over selling it? Is the system really simple enough you can get three QBs meaningful reps, or do they practice so fast they all get plenty? This is the longest pre-season I can remember, and I blame TKP as much as anything for keeping me engaged the whole damn time.
As long as we don't piss away his redshirt for no reason a la Lawson, I'm good with it. If the kid is legit, play him. If he isn't ready, save his eligibility.

As soon as they make one mistake I'm calling for Click haha jk but I'm sure at some point this season it happens. The offense and defense look to be in great shape as do special teams and recruiting. I am really excited. These last few weeks will seem longer than the rest of the off season already has!

Honestly, I'd be willing to take an underwhelming season this year if it meant we have our QB for the future. I think that Fuente probably realizes that this is probably going to a rebuilding year, and if Jackson were to be our starter and we take our lumps right now, it could pay off big time in 1-2 years.
That said, I still think it's going to be Motley or Evans, but I think Jackson will be in it until the end.
Well well well. Jackson appears to be tight. My guess, though, hasn't changed much. Evans starts this year, but now it's a two-man race to back him up. Jackson may start next year.
Do I smell a move to tight end for Evans next year? Hmm...
This reminds me... I've been rooting for Jackson to get into this competition ever since this bulletin board material about the Might Ducks. I never saw the Mighty Ducks so maybe the humor was lost on me but I've been hoping he could prove some people wrong.
