Thanks. The way I read that doesn't say he has been a "lifelong fan" he even used a past tense word when describing about playing for Tech. So again I think this comes back to succes or lack thereof for DL out of Tech not some easy to recruit player that the coaches just didn't do anything with.
I assume we can report BB recruiting news here also, Raiquan Gray makes his choice tomorrow at 2:00pm. 6'8" big man 2017class who would be a great get added in with NAW, Baylor appears to be main competition. NAW recruiting hard on twitter.

Told them the name Hokie originally meant nothing, really, just an attention getting word from a hundred year old cheer. That's where it had originated, and other than a handfull of bullshit assertions (you know, you've heard them, like a castrated turkey, etc.), that is precisely where "Hokie" came from.

Damn, man, there must have been a lot of horse owners there, then. I had the unfortunate experience of living near hooville for ten years, and the one thing you cannot say about the school is that they don't have at least their share of beautiful wimmin. One of my friends even rear ended a car one day near campus because of a particularly attractive bevy of babes walking by. He paid the guy off on the spot for the tap, but sustained enough damage to his Saab that he went home and at midnight, called the State Police and claimed that he had hit a deer on Rt. 29, submitted the accident to his insurance company, and got off light. If you know me, you know I don't often say anything nice about the lolhoos, but in this case...
I'm a big Marshawn Williams fan (I think he is the best or second best back on the roster) but you're entirely right. He needs to get a hold on the ball. And stay healthy.

# | French's Virginia Tech Fall Camp Snapchat Review: 8/6/16 Edition kudos for providing well deserved Hokie education. Curious though, how did you explain where the name came from? Was it different then the School defined story?
Embarrassed to say that I didn't know the spellings in the cheer, and it seems to have changed over the years, but I wasn't far off. When I learned it in '68, I could swear the cheer was ray ri VPI, but have since seen it repeatedly spelled ray rah. Either way, it sure was fun repeating my version of it at a downtown New Orleans bar in 1995 when a Texas girl got on stage and said "All I want to know is, what's a Hokie?" At the time, their school was only a hundred years old, and our cheer was as old as their whole school, and I must admit that I raised the roof with my explanation of where the name Hokie came from, the subsequent leading of the Hokies there in the cheer, and my final words that on the next day, they would all find out just what a Hokie really was. And, dammit, they surely did!! My friends who were there still applaud me for that performance, one of my finest as a Hokie fan.
