# | Finding the H-Back, The Versatile Centerpiece of Justin Fuente's Memphis Offense For those tracking this thread, it looked like Peoples and Cunningham were getting most of the HBack work today. I believe Durkin had surgery in the offseason, so I am not sure if he is practicing (didn't see #13 but easily could have missed him.) I didn't see Burke either that I can recall. Caleb Harmen from Honaker got some work in the screen drills as a HBack.
Damn that would be a bad ass shirt if it said The Key Play instead of Walt Disney World

A bunch of this work looks like it is 3/4 speed- so please understand, this are merely observations.
One other note, it looks like Trevon Hill and Seth Dooley are the #2 DEs right now.
Fixed- this is why Joe is such a good editor. My regular columns are always an adventure when it comes to names. #BruceBenedict

It seems to me that Fuente and Cornelsen identified their best perimeter / lead blocker and put him in position to make plays for the ball carrier. (Fits Fuente's stated philosophy of morphing his offense to match his players' abilities & skills) That blocking excellence also got Cross the jump when he would delay his release after blocking for a moment on a roll-out or reverse. Without a dominating H-Back this season, I doubt we see the same kind of pattern emerge.

Hold up, I don't always use the f-bomb or swear terms in my post, or even always refer to fecal matter or sex stuff. And I definitely don't put up posts arguing in favor of Mike Vick's alter ego or advocating the reinstatement of stick it in. Y'all want me to chill down on the sexy stuff? I'm capable of doing that. I can chill back. But that list and those comparisons to that bender person are pretty weak.

Sucks how the men weren't able to close it out against Croatia today. I guess that goes with competing against the '12 Olympic champs. At least they narrowed the score at the end. I'm still hopeful.

I notice that also. Very pleased to see a linebacker with that build.
Tank Land's coach Chris Scott on the radio show asked about kids committing early: "I'm a fan if they know what they're looking for and have done their research. Like Tank who has known he has wanted to go to VT since he was a kid. And I ask are you sure? and he says yes coach, I've done my research but no matter what other offers there are, nothing will trump this one."
Sounds promising.
I thought it was interesting that he mentioned Devon Hunter by saying he heard he would be committing soon. Getting Hunter to commit would be huge. It's good to have guys like Tahj Capehart carrying the Virginia Tech flag and staying in those guys ears.
Speed is one thing you can't teach. Either you have it or you don't!!

I do find it hard to believe that a FB like Rogers isn't a stout blocker, at least for his size, realizing he's not a 240-lb. behemoth. It would be sad to not have Sam be a big part of this offense.
There are a bunch of shooting events with rifles and pistols. Only a few of the events are air rifles/pistols.
Thanks for that, French. Appreciate the glimpse into practice. I really hope Devin Wilson is able to contribute this year. He has busted his tail on the hardwood, and I am looking forward to him making some plays on the grass. He just seems like one of those quiet guys that are all about team, but whose competitive flame burns bright.
Anyway, great work and looking forward to more.
