The goal was for him to not buckle under the pressure of QB1, flunk out of college, and ruin his professional prospects. That worked. His personal conduct afterwards is not relevant here (and usually starts a very heated debate on these forums, FWIW).

Get an HD OTA antenna first. That will give you your local channels. Also, Xbox Live no longer includes WatchESPN access. You need a cable subscription login. So you either need to get a friend's or have cable. Consider getting something like a Chromecast, Roku, or Amazon Fire TV product. You can install apps for your networks to watch their online shows when they are available while also using Netflix and Hulu. Many of those things you can do on Xbox too, but I don't believe Xbox has access to the network apps. Not certain on that though.

Why is Sam smiling? Did he just kill and eat a reporter?

I have been debating cutting the cord for a while. Now that I have moved and have no desire to get involved with Time Warner cable, I think we are going to pass on a cable subscription. Does anyone have recommendations for watching sports without cable? So far, I am planning to buy an xbox live subscription which used to include access to watchESPN. I am also worried about blacked out games, but I guess I should get those on the local channels that I won't have to pay for. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I agree, they NEED to provide digital access. More and more people are ditching cable every year. My son will never get to experience cable as it currently exists so the likelihood of him purchasing it in the future is even less. I'm not saying digital streaming is the definite future, I just know the current cable model will not last. The network needs to try and keep up with the times. I feel like VT and the ACC are always a step behind the others. This needs to be done right.

I don't think our backend is going to hold up well this season and that's where I think we need more explosive play from the DE position. If we did have a backfield like flowers/macho/kam etc it wouldn't be nearly as important. Again not an indictment so much on mihota as it is the defense in general. I think he will still be an improvement to dadi because he gave us almost nothing last year and like French has already said may have done more harm than good in losing contain and leaving other players out to dry.

I do expect to see mihota back at DT after this season when we won't have the same amount of depth we do this year if gaines and hill are able to get some significant time this year at DE. Also like I said if mihota goes on to regain some of the explosiveness he lost because of his foot injury supposedly and tears it up i'll be ecstatic for him. Any help we get from unlikely sources to hide some of our weaknesses will be welcomed.

4. Bill Roth announcing at least 1 game in Lane per season.

Have we seen numbers yet? How much is VT currently getting and how much will they get under the new deal?

Point 1 must also imply that there are no 'blackouts'.

Right now, any time a game is on the ACC Network AND ESPN, I can't watch it on ESPN3, b/c of stupid blackouts.

Kind of a vanilla comment on my part, but I wish Motley the best. If he wins the job, I'll root for him. If he flubs up, I'll be disappointed in the results, but not engage in more personal hating towards him. As long as Fuente keeps him in there, I'll root for him to do well.

Same goes for Evans.

If it becomes apparent the better QB is riding the bench at some point, I'll blame Fuente for that one, and not the player for things not going right.

And if we see the typical, snap the ball, and have rushers on him 2 steps into his drop back, I won't blame the QB for poor performances. How many times have all our QB's for the past 10 years dealt with that? Joe Montana couldn't QB effectively with as bad as our O-line has been. Fact is when our QB's have had time to throw and Stinespring was sending half decent plays calls down to the field, even Glennon did okay.

The difference between good QB play and bad QB play is sometimes really the O-lines performance, RB's picking the right holes to run in, receivers running the right routes, play design and play calling, etc. Let's try to remember that no matter who is in there, the QB performance whether good or bad is also the most glaring indicator of whether everyone else (coaches and players) are performing well or not.

seconded on point 1. We of the international variety need online streaming capabilities. I realize this is GOACC and ESPN but for phuck sake, give people access to it anywhere they want to be.

Look at the teams that have won. Do we fit that profile?

You keep repeating this like it's some sort of grand revelation. It's not. It's just survivorship bias. Just because an outcome occurred doesn't mean it was the only possible outcome. We lineup closely in many areas with teams like Oregon, TCU, Stanford, Clemson, and Baylor who all could have easily won it all in the last 10 years. Florida in the 90's and Miami in the early 2000's lacked much of the profile you're looking for, but because they won they get lumped in with the successful outcomes. No one's saying we're going to become a blue blood or yearly contender (it would probably take another 20-30 years with aggressive growth from the school), but to say it's impossible because we don't match certain traits of recent winners is unfounded. Unlikely, but certainly possible.

Ok ACC, here's the deal:

I don't want to have a half-assed implementation of this, so you'll need to give me three things:

1) Digital access to all ACC football games. This has gotta happen. 9 game conference schedule will help, but I'm just talking about access for cord cutters. Gimmie.

2) ACC schools need to have the highest quality cameras that are available. I don't want to be watching blurry replays ever again. Also, figure out how to stream a 3D version of the game so it can be projected into other stadiums substantially live.

3) One large trough full of oats and carrots.

These are not negotiable.
