I hope they decide on a QB1 EARLY so that guy gets most of the #1 reps. Quantity of & quality reps early might determine how good the offense is in the first couple of games.

I'm not exactly sure what you're responding to. I wasn't referring to the officiating. Just the flopping. South America is the worst (I think it's a cultural thing). And it's not just the flop, it's the whining and crying when the ref doesn't buy the flop. I grew up playing soccer and I've seen both sides of the flop up close. It happens. Sometimes you get fouled hard and it looks like a flop and isn't called. Sometimes you go down easier than you normally would and it gets called a foul. Depends on the ref. But every coach I ever had preached to all the players that they should just get up and keep playing. When guys go down and are writhing around in pain on the pitch and appealing to the ref for a call and whining and complaining when he doesn't blow the whistle that just irritates me. It's made far worse for me when they get up and start playing again like nothing happened. I get that acting is part of the game but when people embellish and carry on well after the alleged affront it has gone too far and is bad for the game IMO. I also hate when players talk back to the ref. He makes the calls and that's the end of the story. Shut up and play.

When we have possession, we HAVE to be smart with where we pass the ball. Also can't get dis-possessed in our own half or Argentina's attacked 3rd. Hopefully Bradley plays well and doesn't make any foolish choices when distributing out of the back. It'd be super, super nice if we had Jones, he's our X-factor in my opinion, he has such an engine.
Personally, I take Argentina 2-1 in ET. USA strikes first, goes into HT up 1-0, concede a goal around the 60th minute, and then Argentina converts in Extra Time. But this is the Beautiful Game, anything can happen!
No. WCQ resumes in September as the U.S. travel St. Vincent and the Grenadines and host Trinidad and Tobago. Will need at least 4 points to assure qualification to the next round, but should have it wrapped up if we beat SVG and T&T at least draw Guatemala.

New River. If you're wading, go down towards McCoy and fish the shoals you see in front of you and to the left as the road turns right to follow the river. Be careful as the ledges drop off sharply and can be a hazard. Take someone with you and don't push it. Try some texas rigged grubs with a 1/16 oz bullet weight or tube jig and let them drift down the shoals in front of you. Smoke, green pumpkin, and watermelon seed work well. Topwater works well too at times, such as a pop-r. Haven't been there in a decade but it used to produce lots of fish. Check out the DGIF webpage for some pretty good info and maps for river access. Tight lines.
If you mean the Rio Olympics, the answer is no.
The US men did not qualify for the Rio Olympics unfortunately. It's a U-23 tournament, so the senior team doesn't have any bearing there. For the Olympics themselves, each country is allowed a few overage players per squad.

in fairness to me, though, "Keybreaking the Defense" was promised to us after the spring game....we still haven't been graced with it. I would much rather spend the off-season discussing French's breakdown of Fuente's offense than morality......but we just don't have much to go off of right now. So...MORALITY it is!!

Here is the reality (and this is coming from someone who hoped that Motley would win the job going into the spring.) Fuente's offense has very simple reads in the passing game. In the spring game, Motley was still incredibly slow with his reads, and often his inaccuracy stems from throwing the ball well after the receiver comes out of his break. Nothing in the little bit of film that was available in the spring suggests otherwise, nor do his performances last year.
Now, even more important than the passing game is that Fuente requires tons of reads and very nuanced footwork and mesh point fundamentals in the run game from his quarterback. Across the board, Evans was faster and more fundamentally sound on his reads, reverse outs, and riding the mesh points. That, by itself, I think will separate Evans. Evans passing game performance will be what could potentially put this offense to the next level. He has to be accurate.
Of the younger guys, I was really impressed with Josh Jackson. He looked sharp against lesser competition.
Copa officiating is almost as bad as Pac12 officiating or NBA officiating, or any other officiating for that matter. It will never be perfect, and your opinion of it often depends on whether or not it favors your teams stye of play, or your personally preference for how the game should be played. I hate they way PI and targeting today in football, contact is allowed in the NBA, fouls are not called in soccer unless you fall down, or that fighting is discouraged in Hockey. I however like the changes made to get more offense in MLB.
As someone who grew up before soccer was watched in the US, but with two boys who played travel soccer, refereed soccer, and are always watching it on TV, it appears the younger you are the more you understand that falling when fouled is part of soccer, and good acting is part of the game. The later in life you get into soccer, the more you equate flopping with something that takes away from the game, like the Duke flop in basketball.
We discussed the concert but I don't know what the final verdict is. I myself am starting to lean against it. Not that it wouldn't be fun but I have a feeling I will just be preoccupied.
The most important player will be the one that (hopefully) doesn't play....the injury monster.
As an aside, I will be really interested to see what additional hints we keep getting that the Red God is in fact the "true" god. Melisandre's answer to Jon Snow in effect "the one we've got". Obviously he brought Jon back for a reason, and the hint a few episodes ago that the Hound may have some connection/purpose to the Red God. Even Jaqen H'gar, when he is helping Arya in Harranhal, specifically references that she took 3 lives from the Red God (does not reference the Many faced God). So possible connection there with the Faceless Men, or Arya more specifically.
The book includes a number of hints that the rebirth of the dragons has a direct connection with the Red God perhaps, but definitely with magic returning to the world at large. I think it was Varys or Tyrion commenting on street performers in Volantis performing actual magic tricks and not simply slight of hand.
We actually played them in the 2007 Copa America as well and lost 4-1. It was an experimental side against a pretty stout Argentina team, but the 1995 game is one of the best US wins.
Does this tourney have any bearing on the US qualifying for RIO?...or has that already been determined?
8 other Hokies and I have an RV spot in Rogers Gardens. Allowed to arrive Thursday I believe, so will likely leave Northern Virginia sometime that morning. Not planning to go to the concert but hoping it will be audible from outside. Should be a drunken good time.
