Surprised that this was not mentioned earlier. McMillan is nice and is going to be a big part of the offense, but IMHO we have the ability to mix-and-match that production with guys on the roster now, if need be.
If Ford goes down, the trickle down of coverages could neutralize a lot of our passing attack, and no one has proven the ability to fill his role and we would need to get big production from some yet-unproven guys to get that output.
The reffing is an issue. And having two on the field would definitely help.
My son's high school team is playing with 2 refs on the field, but no side judges. Makes for an interesting game near the end sometimes when they are sucking wind and trying to cover over half the field by themselves.
There should be a better program to get kids and past players involved in it. A lot of the high school refs, for either school or travel/showcase games, are older and don't interact real well with the kids. Sometimes a few kinder words goes a long way. I mean they are getting paid $30 a game at the rec level, $75 range for high school, and above that for showcase. That's a heck of an hourly rate for extra income. Even if they hit the teams up for a little more, and make it $60 apiece, better reffing goes a long way, and helps protect the kids on the field.
I honestly believe that it was such a nice move that 95% of the players in college football would have looked stupid
Does anybody else use the CBS sports app? About 20 minutes ago, I got pushed a notification saying something like "USA defeats Argentina 1-..." Obviously, the game doesn't start for another 9.5 hours..
I was pissed for a moment as I thought the game might have started at 9am and I had missed it, but I was thrilled that it said 'USA defeats'.
Now, I am just a mix of sad and annoyed, while I ponder on whether or not I'll ever again be able to trust the validity of a push notification.
I got something similar last week for a game that hadn't started. I wonder if this is just shit technology management on CBS' part or if this is some bullshit to draw more app views.
Agreed. A perfect block but today he would be ejected for targeting and replay would uphold it.
Maybe romance/marriage....even {gasp} sex is almost out of the show. By the time this is over, almost everyone will be dead anyway.
Brienne seems to be the most in demand, with potentially both Jaime and Tormund as suitors. And Yara, because, you know, she's up for anything.
Sooo, now you tell me that the reason you and I couldn't catch a cobia a couple of weeks ago is because YOU were there? Cobia are fast becoming my white whale. As I related to you, on Sunday, a buddy and I had four cobia hit baits. One was a true dink, maybe a couple of feet and one I landed, two inches shy of the new keeper limit. Both on eels. We then had two more absolute brutes grab live baits, one a bluefish, one a croaker and they both were well hooked...so we thought. After a blistering run almost into the backing, Dave's fish pulled off. My big one circled the boat, and in a common behavior for them, it then ran under the anchor line, necessitating a run around the boat and a hand off under the anchor line, which set up another blistering run that also ended with the hook pulling free. Those two fish were truly big, though we never got a look at either one. Experience says they were well over fifty pounds, but we'll never know how big they were. Compared to the relative ease of landing the 38" fish, these guys were like nukes compared to M 80s. Let's give it a week or so and try again, eh?
Congrats on the drum, they're a lot of fun to catch, but drum in addition to cobia is a good thing, while drum in lieu of cobia, not so much, huh?
I believe he is being recruited to play defense per the article. It would be nice to get some more big guys on the commit list, on both sides of the ball, but I am not really concerned about it yet, its still early in the recruiting season. I have heard it is even harder to evaluate big guys without getting them into camp because many of them do not face similar sized opponents on film, or you do not know how big they will get until at least their junior year, making it harder to get as far in front with them on recruiting.
I am just excited that we made the semi's. Go USA!
Used to ref and hated when we did a two referee system without ARs. Offside calls are judgement, get most wrong to be honest.
As someone suggested, it's speed of play and not proximity. The reality is, out of 100 calls, referees get it right 97-98 percent of the time. Refs get some call wrong, but it's an extremely difficult job.
What is the best place around Blacksburg to fish? I haven't been in years and want to get back into it. The only places I have been are Pandapas and New River under the 114 bridge by the arsenal.
Kinda where I was going, but who knows with this show. Anything is possible at this point.
I think you meant Evans and Motley, Lawson was the least effective QB in the spring game behind Click and Jackson.
for those who went to VT in the mid-2000's, that is former Hokie RB Billy Gorham holding the net.
I am suddenly motivated to buy a TKP team pie T shirt.
I've seen that video dozens of times and never caught that. Got..... Dammit.
Good thing that block didn't happen in today's game or Ward would've been ejected for not verbally warning the poor guy without his head on a swivel that he's about to get popped
Let me know if you hear of it coming around again. We get down there a few times a year.
wonder why Corso was upset? Maybe he knew they lost a lot of TV viewers because the game was now out of hand.
Anybody catch Lee Corso saying "god damnit" at the 2:09 mark lol
If you know you are the #1 QB going into the off season do you work on your game more or less than if you think you co-#1?
If you think you are the #2?
#3 or #4?
You give all 4 a chance to believe that if they improve enough its theirs, and get them to try their hardest to improve. You start the summer with open competition again, just like you said you would. When it is obvious 1 guy will not start, you give his reps to the others until you are down to 2, and give them reps that gradually go slightly to the guy who looks better.
I think the spring ended Evans > Motley based on what I hear others say the coaches said, but would love to see someone else break out and pass them to start. I want a QB that will win us championships, and did not see where any of these guys were there yet in the spring. I just don't really know enough to have a good opinion now, but its interesting to read everyone else's.
Turn overs by the same player on back to back series has been known as the Glennon Special since that game. The Double Glennon Special was a sight to see.
Glennon will always be a hero to me after he F'd Matt Ryan in the 2007 championship for all of us.
His 2livebeyond foundation does an annual charity event down here in Myrtle Beach. It's a great event with lots of college and pro athletes coming out to support. If he holds it again I down here I recommended getting tickets to watch the golf and Softball.
I don't know, after the Georgia game where he turned the ball over like 4 times in 4 series, there was a lot of ill will headed his way. But he is a nice guy.

It said they beat them in 1995, the last time we played them in Copa America
