Some pies made poorly
Do not make pies worse than cake
Well made cakes still suck

2 QB System? 60% of the time that does not work everytime. Probably down to Evans and Lawson but who knows, Fuente is the offensive guru so lets see who he likes

But cake is not good
Pie is so much heartier
You should calm your tits

Guzan and the backline are going to have to play the best game of their careers for us to have a chance. Argentina should be able to control the ball and the pace of the game so I think we will have limited opportunities offensively (especially with Wood out). I hope we can win some set pieces, maybe a PK as well and then we need to score from those set pieces. It will be fun to watch and hopefully we can pull off a major upset.

MNCG: My old roommate worked for a guy on the Sugar Bowl committee, so we got tix, a pregame VIP event, the works. Had an absolute blast, at least until the Peter Warrick show started in the 4th quarter.

'03 scUM: Loudest I've ever heard Lane, period. Still miss the old 5/XXX crew.

'04 @ scUM: Mrs-Freefall-to-be and I did a Caribbean cruise the week before and then caught the game. After Royal's TD I remember the guys ripping up part of the old OB turf and dumping bags of sugar on the field and thinking that we would eventually pay for that...

'05 scUM: ...and sure enough, pay we did. Even though the game sucked we did our best Ole Miss impression and damned sure didn't lose the tailgate!

'07 @ LSU: Couldn't make this one and was pissed about it... until about 5 minutes in, at which point I was glad I had the option to turn it off.

'11 @ loluva: I'd pretty much given up on traveling to see the Hokies by this point, and had a 6-month-old to boot, so caught this one on TV as well.

Yea, as much as I'd like to win putting money on us is very optimistic. Argentina has the skill to go Chile on us, but here's to hoping Dempsey continues to be a beast!

PIe can kiss my ass
With crust so dry and crumbly
Team Cake forever

Hate all this TV ification of refereeing.

Put two referees on the field and demand they stay closer to the action and that they card for flopping.

The problem comes for youth sports where you might then need a fourth ref. Just do away with the AR role for youth sports, put two or three referees on the field and let them actually get close enough to see what is going on.

We'll just settle this at the commisioner's office... what has happened to sports? We need 20 lawyers just to conduct any kind of major championship.

Absolutely. Both teams' personnel are learning new systems and I would fully expect there to be a few breakdowns here and there due to system inexperience on both sides. Here's to hoping those breakdowns benefit rather than hurt the Hokies.

Exactly. Lawson could be molded this year and make leaps and bounds for the future, not unlike Lynch starting as a RS FR over an experienced senior.

Motley doesn't have that upside.

I don't expect Tenn's defense to look like bumbling idiots out there. I'm just hoping that the uncertainty of who they're up against slows them down a half step here or there. I also think it's noteworthy to point out that Tenn has a new DC this year. I'll be watching their defense closely on Thursday when they face off against Appy State. Should be interesting to see how they look.

I think the combination of Tenn having a new DC and them not having a whole lot of game film on Cornelsen's version of the VT offense will be the biggest advantages we have offensively. It would be strange to me if we don't try to take advantage of that.

I put money on Argentina at -1 and took the over on 2.5 goals..... Go USA though.... win win situation

I would say that "a certain element of surprise" is not mutually exclusive with the other team being able to benefit from past film of Memphis and TCU.

Who did win? Was there controversy (homemade/store bought/bakery)? We need to know these things.

Would love to see us take down Argentina. I've expressed my distaste for them outside of Messi on the other thread. We could sneak out a win somehow.

I agree to a certain extent....

What UT is going to find in Fuente's Memphis O (and I'll guarantee you they're watching TCU film too) are tendencies and patterns. Yea, it's not with VT's personnel, but it's not like Fuente is completely reinventing his offense with VT's roster. Granted, we could probably say with confidence that he has wrinkles up his sleeve and now has the personnel to do different things within his style offense that he was unable to do or decided not to do at UofM, but UT can still benefit greatly from watching Memphis (and TCU) film. To think that UT is going to be these bumbling idiots scratching their heads out there because they have no clue what's going on is horrendously nave.

I wouldn't use the spring game to make a projection of who our starting QB will be. The game plan was all mellow for obvious reasons. The next step in the evaluation is the pre-season when both Fuente/Cornelsen & Foster start game-planning for the regular season. Let the best QB win!

We're led to believe it's only Gendry. Or at least all of them in King's Landing have been killed, so any that aren't there are possible.

UT can watch Memphis film all day long, but no one really has a clue how Fuente is going to utilize our roster at VT. Very limited film available with our players in his system.
