Yeah I had no idea about the incident until today. Did recall our efforts to mimic them to get into the ACC cool kids club and came across the story while refreshing my memory.

I like the tidbit in the comments about Darden also being instrumental is keeping VPI from being expelled from the NCAA.

Helped keep us in the NCAA - check
Destroyed UVA football forever - check

He seems like a good dude.

I agree 100%. From what I've seen he looks the part. Always the first to the ball on kickoff coverage. Gotta trust the coaches, but I'd rather have someone give 110% and screw up rather than be in the right spot and get ran over

Interesting. But that they dropped the ball doesn't surprise me in the least. I remember during the Welsh era they stated they would decline a bowl if it was too close to final exams or something to that affect

A friend of mine told me they have a pill that will help with making that 25 seconds last a bit longer.

I'm typically 100% in the "trust the coaches, they see the kids every day" camp, but watching the Mike spot, it's hard for me to not want Lydon in the game. Sure, he may not always be completely in command of the defense, but at least when he does do the right thing, the arrives unblocked and the ballcarrier ends up on the ground where Lydon got there, not 5 yards downfield.

Then you would also enjoy that they are served in 34 oz mugs.

Probably was. They supplied the food so they must have supplied the kegs as well.

the most exciting 25 seconds

It is the most exciting 25 seconds, because most other teams have more than 25 seconds of excitement.

A little OT from the OT, but is anyone planning on going to the summer beer festival on the 25th? Was thinking about making the trip.

what an embarrassing way to injure yourself. That's actually really unfortunate. I hate to see kids get hurt but it's especially bad if they get hurt doing something unnecessary, like running down a hill before a game (or practicing running down a hill for a game). You would think, with all the emphasis on player safety, that the whole running-down-the-hill thing would be abolished. Especially if what you say is true about multiple players being seriously injured doing it. That's outrageous.
