Ok cool - we did that some with Tyrod a bunch too I think. Same with Logan when we had Wilson in the backfield, but after he graduated we went with the inverted veer option as opposed to the standard option.

And to your point, I was too impatient and went ahead and saw the Wisky vs TCU game (OneHourFootball channel, y'all), and saw exactly what you're talking about - basically took JJ out of the run game entirely!

yeah, sure, but I think everything should be weighted. For instance, somebody who is supremely talented at delivering pizzas in less than 15 minutes (contribution) but also kills people on weekends (mistake) isn't going to be viewed in a neutral light given that they have the same number of contributions as mistakes. I think most people would agree that delivering pizzas in a timely manner carries far less weight than murder.

You can't just cancel out transgressions with so-called contributions. In the grand scheme of things, anything that a football player (or any athlete, really) does on the playing surface pales in comparison to any laws they break. I honestly don't give a crap how talented an athlete somebody is; if they continually fail to obey laws they are not a person I can support in any way.

No one said that Frank wasn't competitive and didn't seek to build on his success. Because that's the opposite of the truth. Naturally coach speak is for the media and fans. But a lot of the time what a coach says to the media echoes his message to the team in private away from the media. That's of course not true all the time as we saw with Frank. The only point I'm trying to make is it's nice to hear a coach speak about wanting more out of his team all the time. That's all. If that's deep-end homerism then so be it.

Not personal offense. Just irritation. Your question doesn't make sense. I'm all for substantiated rumors and theories, but your question isn't that. This site has been over the Buzz leaving issue which has pretty much been put to bed for this year and of all players leaving, Pierce is the least likely to signal Buzz's departure.

But come on man...it makes us feel better to believe there is a new sense of urgency in town. Because we need to believe that there will be different outcomes. New coach must be better man, because otherwise we gave up a legend for like nothing. (in my head that's the Dude talking)

In all seriousness though, I am very optimistic, not because I think Fuente has any more urgency or is less complacent than Frank (I don't believe that to be the case at all) but because you marry a high powered offensive minded head coach with one of the best defensive minds in the college game and we have the recipe for some seriously good football.

If Rogers can learn to run a couple of key routes

??? It takes a brave man to pose that as a question. A better question would be if we can find a third receiver who can block, run routes and catch. We could always trot a tailback out for a real power look and line them up wide if we had to.
