I agree, Loeffler "leaned heavily" on LT3 which is where my concern for the QBs originated. That same concern for the QBs well-being carries over to Fuente's offense. Certainty, whether Fuente actually "leans heavily" on QB keepers is up for debate. I feel that every time I read about Fuente's offense the QB option to keep is mentioned which implies, to me, that QB keeping is critical to him. Critical doesn't mean frequent, but there is always a potential for it to increase when it is an important part of your offense.

I didn't say ALL of Fuente's QBs have histories with ACL injuries nor did I say ALL 5 of VT's current QBs have histories with ACL injuries. Frankly, I think all of that is not critical to what I was saying. I still don't like the idea of a QB getting hit a lot, period, but dislike it even more so if the QB has an injury history.

I didn't realize I implied that I expect Evans to win the starting job, that wasn't my intention. Especially since whoever wins the starting job is irrelevant to disliking 'frequent' QB keeps. Since it was brought it up, I do feel that Evans will win the job. Sure, the 'politically correct' thing to say is the job is Motleys to lose but I feel it is in actuality Evans' job to lose. I don't have facts or the "proof" to back up my feelings; my feelings are simply based on my perception of the situation.

Now I'm not some super genius football guy so I don't know whose offense Fuente's most resembles. I'm just throwing a random spattering of teams out there. However, based on the random selections below, I would agree with you that Fuente's 2015 offense did NOT lean heavily on the QB run.

In 2015:
-Memphis QB was third in carries at 87, behind 155 and 91 carries.
-VT QBs Motley (88) and Brewer (37) combined for 125 carries. Motley was second in carries behind McMillian (200).
-Houston QB lead the team with 198 carries, the second had 185.
-GT QB was the leader with 145 carries. The second was 93 carries.
-Oregon QBs Adams (83) and Lockie (34) combined for 117 carries. Adams was second in carries behind the leader with 283 carries.
-Stanford QB was second with 85 carries, the leader had 337.

I will be tailgating in the parking lot behind Litton Reeves (most likely, that is where we have always done it). Mostly alumni and past and present MV's. I will be celebrating my "bachelor party" and wearing my DBU shirt. Hopefully I can make it around and meet some other TKP'rs. I live up in Delaware so I do not make it out to Blacksburg often and see very few VT alumni up here.

Looking pretty likely that I'll be in town for the game. My wife has a rare full weekend off so it makes the trip easy on us. We won't be setting up our own tailgate but I'd be happy to show up all

(and bring beer, of course)

Attrition and turnover is the norm, not the exception, in college basketball. As of 2014, ~40% of players who entered Div 1 out of high school left their original school by the end of their Sophmore year (source: NCAA.org). The list of players transferring mid-season and post-season is VERY long.

It's no more a component of a formula for success than it is a formula for failure.

I don't know yet. MsSusieCue is dropping me off somewhere so her and her mother can go to the winery down on Blue Ridge Parkway. I am kind of going to be floating around. In years past, I stopped by the VT softball game next doow to kill time.

But when the gates open, I go in. I like to watch warm ups because they kind of give you a feel for the potential upside of guys, size speed those things.

they also had an NFL-level talented running back playing against mostly mid-major talent the last time addazio and loeffler teamed up...i expect them to be better than last year, largely because it can't get much worse; competent relative to the rest of FBS football is a bit of a stretch i imagine

Yes, but where is the line drawn? Transferring just for playing time's sake has advantages and disadvantages.

If I were a student athlete athlete putting in at least 20 hours of practice time each week, but not playing much, I would transfer too.

I can understand making a move that may afford you more opportunity, but the flip side of this is just being afraid of competition or unable to prove yourself against better competition.

Some people would rather be a big fish in a small pond than an average fish in a big pond. People do this in the professional world (not just sports, job market in general) all the time, and no one thinks ill of it.

This sucks. He could be a huge scoring threat on any given night (and yes, I acknowledge that he could be very inconsistent). I can't help but believe that he could become more consistent with his big scoring nights as an upperclassmen, having had two years of experience under his belt. And even though I acknowledge that he would have some really stiff competition for playing time next year, I don't see why he wouldn't be right there in the mix with Allen, Bibbs, Clarke, Hill, etc.
I do wish him well in the future, and am glad to be reminded of his Academic All-Conference status. Big ups!

This'll be my 4th straight year of tailgating the spring game like a bunch of college kids. That made sense for a while since we were all in school. This year more than half of us are no longer in school. Oh well, we'll still act the same.
We title the spring game "Bourbon, Beer, Bacon, and Burgers." And that's really the focus of the tailgate. I make 10 gallons of beer and keg it (A citrus hopped Saison with honey and a Belgian Single that's a little disappointing). Everyone brings bourbon (last year we filled an entire table with liquor), and then we cook a bunch of beef and bacon. It's a great time.
We normally park in the Cassell lot right across Washington St from West Ambler Johnston. I'll be in a TKP shirt, so if you see a bunch of young adults having way too much fun and pouring beer from soda kegs, feel free to stop by!

With the mention of Loeffler, what's the news out of Boston? Anyone keeping tabs on him?

Edit: In answer to my own question: Loeffler at BC

One paragraph sticks out which highlights the difference between Loeffler's style and Fuente's,

Between stopping and redoing team reps to get plays and drills exactly right, or the extra time spent on the field after practice with the quarterback corps, it's all about the basics.

It might be safe to say that initially at least we are not going to see much hurry up from BC.

In what way(s) did he not "[buy] into what Buzz is selling" or not "have a team first attitude"?
I agree that he was inconsistent, but when he was on, he could nearly take over a game. And with so many other scoring threats on the team, he didn't need to be The Man every night.
