The 18th best All Purpose Back is visiting today
He recently decommited from Vanderbilt and will be here for the coaches clinic and is ranked the 21st best player in the state of Virginia
I plan on coming from RVA- would like to meet up face to face with some TKP'rs
Zero people are surprised by this, and it's without a doubt the best thing for both parties.
Alas I will be unable to attend the spring game this year. Baby number 4, 4th girl, is kicking Mrs. Fireman's butt during this pregnancy. I "decided" to forego my plans to attend the spring game for the 1st time. Maybe someone will be kind enough to periscope the game. Enjoy the festivities fellow TKPers.
QB rushes as a percent of total rushing attempts under Fuente are not as prevelant as we've seen. Its been somewhere between Michael Brewer and Logan Thomas (that's a joke because that's like saying it's somewhere between 0 and 100%). But in honesty running backs in his offense have gotten the vast majority of attempts. I'm pretty sure sacks still count as rushing attempts for a QB, so if you factor that in, they rush even less comparatively to the Running backs.
You can't look at it by traditional positions. Hudson was not only competing for playing time with Hill, but also Bibbs, Clarke, Allen, Wilson and possibly (though I wouldn't hold my breathe) Ty Outlaw. Buzz's tendency to play all three PGs at once cuts into Hudson's potential minutes, as does any time he'd play both LeDay and Blackshear together.
It's a deep team, and Buzz yo-yo'ed the hell out of Hudson's minutes over the last two years. If you look up at the rotation and see 8 guys ahead of you, which right now there are, then you bounce out.
I think there is a difference between "leaning heavily" on the QB run and using it effectively to keep the defense honest. I think in 2012 Loeffler "leaned heavily" on LT3. I don't think Fuente "leans heavily" on his QBs. Andy Dalton was used on QB runs on occasion but he spent most of his time handing off or throwing the ball. I think the same could be said of Paxton Lynch.
I like it even less when the QB has a history of ACL injuries.
I wasn't aware that all of Fuente's QBs have had histories with ACL injuries. Nor was I aware that all 5 of VT's current QBs have histories with ACL injuries. I don't really see the point of that comment, TBH. All it does is imply that you expect Evans to win the starting job which isn't guaranteed.
I understand what you're saying, I just don't agree that Fuente leans heavily on the QB run. He uses it to open up options offensively but I don't think any of his QBs have been work-horse type backs. Perhaps you and I just have a different definition of "leaning heavily" on the QB run. Maybe you just want a QB like Manning who is a statue and would never be a real threat in the running game?

# | Excellent SBNation article on Fuente and his anticipated impact on VT's offense I always worry about leaning heavily on the QB run. Why have a support staff (WRs, RBs, TEs, FBs) only to use them as a distraction and beat the snot out of your decision maker every game. Not only make him mentally tired, but physically beat him too. I get it is a numbers game and the QB is an unaccounted for runner, but I don't like it. I like it even less when the QB has a history of ACL injuries.
When Jalen was on, there were none better. When he wasn't, he just took up space. Smart guy and talented, he will do well somewhere else.
Please no

Live look in at cds7c:

McGlock was the real MVP on that one.
cds7c isn't driving the Ahmed Hill hype train, he IS the Ahmed Hill hype train.
Hill didn't even play this season and he is coming off injury. Clarke doesn't even play the same position as Hudson so they weren't really competing for a spot.
Alright, now I'm curious as to what you think about this:

I honestly haven't seen enough film on Fuente's offense from Memphis, but watch the opening drive from TCU in the 2011 Rose Bowl. Fuente utilizes this "Diamond Formation" (basically a fullhouse backfield out of the pistol, with two receivers split wide.) Do you think this wrinkle may appear for us at all? I think it's an excellent way to utlize our backfield depth, and the option possibilities are endless. Keeps the defense honest by spreading the field.

Happening EVERYWHERE. UVA lost at least as many in Bennett's first couple years, and a record number of transfers happened last year around the country and that record likely will be broken this year. Most coaches play 8-9 player rotations, and there are 12 scholarships...D1 guys all think they're the best because their AAU coaches and/or family handlers have told them so.
I see this thread has been revived. Saw this image somewhere months ago, and I must say the force is strong with this guy's troll game:

It sucks but Buzz had to make room for Thon Maker
I will be on site and will be in the stadium as soon as they open the gates. I am happy to mooch burgers off folks in exchange for my sage-like wisdom. I am spring-gaming on my soon to be mother-in-law's birthday, who lives in C-burg, so it may be the last time I walk the earth as a whole man.
Why does it seem like there are more basketball transfers than football players per year? I swear this program can't go a year without someone dipping out. In Buzz I trust, but just unusual.
Regardless of whether or not this is true (seriously I can't decide if he's for real or just pulling our legs) I love Mark Hamill. He's one of the few people I can think of who genuinely enjoy their fame as much as and with the fans

If there's one thing not to worry about it's Sam learning how to do something that will help this team win.
