I'm real excited about this coaching hire. He did some great things with the CBs he had at wvu, and brings in valuable experience keeping pace with the up-tempo offense that they ran.

He had the potential to be a pro - his thug attitude included an entitled mentality, and he did not work to develop his game or become a better person. Sad, but hard to feel bad for someone when their bad decisions have bad consequences. He blew more opportunities than most people get.
This whole investigation goes much further than UNC. It lays at the hands of the NCAA and it's lack of educational and academic stance. Love hearing Jay Bilas dish on how much of a joke the NCAA is from an academic standpoint. What happened at UNC happens at, or has happened at, nearly every school in the country. Is it on the same scale? Maybe not, but the overly excessive privilege, leniency , and preferential treatment towards athletes happens EVERYWHERE. The admins know exactly what classes to place athletes in in order to maintain eligibility. That's one reason why there are academic advisors specifically for athletes...
Does preferential academic (possibly shady) treatment happen at VT? I'd bet my house it does. The general college athletic academic environment is to do whatever has to be done to get it done. It's only when the benefit for the athlete runs out that they decide to take it upon themselves to try and take it down. UNC just happened to have former athletes blow the whistle and torpedo the ship. Fans generally only care about the end result on the field. Make fun of UNC all you want, but to have a notion that this is a UNC isolated incident is hilariously nave.
The worst part is that it spoils a school's academic image for the athletes AND the general student population who actually are good students, go to class everyday, do their own work, and realize that there's more to life than what happens between the sidelines. There are handfuls upon handfuls more of these types of students than the latter.

If you told me at this time last year, coming off a 2 win ACC campaign and seeing the kind of talent we had coming into Blacksburg for football that, barring a lightning quick start to the football season, we're most likely going to be ranked in men's basketball before football, I would have told you that you were insane.
Well... there's a pretty good chance we open the basketball season ranked. So yeah...

As someone who used to frequent TSL quite a bit, its nice to hear the attitude that is so pervasive over there get so publicly called out.
Its one thing to be critical. Its a whole other thing to always look for a reason to be critical. TKP is the former, TSL is the latter.

Sportscasters are really going to love calling games for this team: The Hokies opponents are feeling so much Payne they may have to Settle for a Walker after being knocked on their Kish and start getting Sickle like they've been knocked all the way to Denmark. Carpenter is giving them the Fullwood treatment in a very Slye way. They're Plantin their opponents like they were run over by a Ford running down Hill. Their coach is turning Greene in his Facyson due to the Hokies shooting him the Moon and then taking it to the Banks, definitely being Wang Chunged right in their Motuapuaka ! Everything is really starting to Click in a very Foxy way until they just can't take no Moore Vice.
