Hopefully after this season you won't be needing the services of your therapist anymore.

My therapist, and not coincidentally Loefflers legal representation, have instructed me to avoid making comparisons of any type between our former and current offensive coordinators.

Still only letting me vote once, dagnabbit.

Was he a significant upgrade? Do you have any objective or statistical evidence to support that?

Not to mention it has a sack and a forced fumble against the Noles two years ago.

As Sharkbait mentioned, that's from October. They actually dropped it from a DUI to reckless driving. So, funny timing with respect to my post, but largely inconsequential.

Agree with your point but remember Lefty was a significant upgrade over his predecessor at OC. And while the running game seemed to diminish (mostly due to a drop off in talent), he did bring a mid range passing game to Blacksburg.

But I'm hoping the new staff can bring a college approach to these guys as well.

Ugh, this would be horrible. I can believe it will happen though, because in the teaser they have the camera looking up at Lucille, along the length of it. I feel like if they do this, they're basically just using shock value and stress to try to keep viewers coming back, rather than necessarily telling the story. I'll reserve judgment until I see it, but I am sensing that some shows are starting to lose their effect a bit, trying to create headlines rather than a cohesive narrative.

I really like this show, and will overlook the small stupid stuff. But last night episode was so forced and the storytelling was disjointed. For hard core survivors they sure did a lot of stupid stuff.
I"m sure we will be left hanging all summer wondering who gets it from Negan.

Yeah, Lefty's style is just too advanced and complex for the college game. He would be an excellent NFL QB coach.

...oh, wait. He was the QB coach for the 2008 Detrioit Lions...the only NFL team to ever go 0-16.

Talked about that this morning with a coworker.

Would not be surprised to see the bat go up, and then cut to black before we see who he decided to kill.

There is a nasty rumor that Negan's kill will be done with POV cinematography, and the identity of his victim will be a cliffhanger resolved in the season 7 premiere.

Nothing was more infuriating last season than VT not being able to snap the ball and resorting to calling a timeout to avoid delay of game. (I know it happened several times). It will be a polar opposite if we have an offensive coordinator that can teach and call a good game without some of the hiccups we saw with Loeffler (getting too cute, etc). The OC also needs to be able to teach the playbook to more than one QB at one time. Apparently you need to be an aerospace engineer to get Lefty. Most of us can sympathize with having had at least one professor that was a subject matter master but couldn't teach it. That's what we got when we hired someone because they were on the cheap and Auburn was going to be paying him for a year (shades of Weaver). Unfortunately, that played a role in Lefty being hired because he had a limited track record as an OC with only one good season at Temple. I could never understand why CFB put the end of his career in someone's hands that had such limited experience as an OC.
I believe Cornelsen will be a better fit. I was astonished when I heard Loeffler's last interview after the bowl game when he said "We run basically what Justin does, and there is great similarity"(paraphrased). Last I heard Lefty was mostly a pro concept guy (what's up with this disconnected remark)? I believe a good OC will be able to get the ball snapped consistently without as much confusion as last season. I also remain hopeful that we will see penalties on the offensive side go down. Overall VT was 109th out of 127 teams in FBS in total penalties, so that includes the defense. I am not sure about that though since Memphis was ranked 116th in the same category.

With that being said I am excited about the upcoming Spring game and believe that the Phoenix will rise again over Blacksburg!

I think something interesting to add would be average attendance for football and basketball and what percentage of the stadium is full. That would show demand and hint at whether the stadium is too big/too small/just right and what the right size stadium/expected crowd is for each school.
