Hooker is the rancher who helps out Wyatt, Doc and the Immortals in the greatest movie of all time, Tombstone.

I like it.

Is Dell actually continuing that narrative? Maybe he is, but I don't read this quote in that way at all. Dell simply made the analogy to Steph being passed over in college recruiting. A lot of us are sensitive to the fact that we didn't offer Steph even though he was a legacy, but go back and read the actual quote again-- there's nothing that suggests Dell was singling us out or referring to us. The only mention of Virginia Tech is by the author.

I actually have a loose understanding of fencing and it is a favorite "nontraditional" sport of mine to watch along with handball. I have no where near the balance or footwork to be a fencer so props. Has there ever been a successful 300 Lb fencer?

I know who hasn't ordered a shirt lately...

j/k, I was also surprised, but only because it's sticker number 3.

And Steph could have come to Tech showed he had it and earned a scholly. Basketball gets so few scholarships to offer you can't give one to a kid you don't view as ready, and no coaches thought he was.

What Dell did while he was at Tech didn't earn a scholly for Steph at Tech, but it did earn him the right to be heard. If I am coach at VT and Dell Curry tells me that any HS senior is going to help Tech back to being in the big dance, I am going to listen. The only reason Steph was not breaking his dad's records for 3 point shooting and overall scoring is because they did not have the 3 point shot in CBB when he played. The guy KNOWS how to shoot and if he says his son can do the same, you bet I listen. Seth for all his positives when he came here, did not assign that type of credence to what Dell Curry said. If an Beamer equivalent was in place as MBB coach, I would bet that the Curry clan would've been Hokies and imagine what might have transpired then..... just sayin.

We're gonna need all the help we can for Cone. He wants to play BBall instead of football, even if not D1. Need to let Ford talk some sense into him.

so you've been stiffing all the other hookers? come on man. that's not cool

that's what she said... wait... that's what he said...... phew, this is getting confusing

yep. like I said, mine is the non-expert opinion. it's the family, loyalty, relationship opinion. regardless of how the Curry boys turned out, it would have been a good investment to get their old man more involved in the program.

I am quite sure Steph would have earned anything he got once in the program. On my daughter's application to VT, it asked if she is a legacy. She got into VT. I am sure the fact that her dad graduated from VT and has been contributor to the college of engineering influenced that decision but it did not marginalize anything about it. It's not like she's a B student and it's not like Steph couldn't dribble and shoot.

History has a way of repeating itself and that's why legacies exist. Just like it did with the Currys. It's a great lesson.
