I had former WVU punter Miles Montgomery (DJ @ KIST-FM in Seattle) tell me that when they played at Lane in the late-80s to early-90s, their team absolutely hated it, from the smells of the nearby AG fields to the horrid Visitors locker room.

You'd think the WVU players would be used to even worse conditions.

Maybe I'm crazy, but am I the only person who thinks with a win today, and two or more wins in the ACC tournament, we could be looking at an outside shot at a NCAA tournament birth? Aside from the bad loss to AL State, we'd have 20+ wins, winning ACC record, and signature wins over UVA and Miami, not to mention a tough Pitt team. Plus, we'd have all the momentum in the world, playing our best ball when it really matters. Seems like a no brainier to me, but maybe it's because I lost mine. I know one thing - I've seen a crapload of teams with lesser credentials than that get in, so who knows? WHY NOT US?!

I will be there as well. It was the easiest decision I made all year. Staying an extra day into spring break is definitely worth it to see us take down miami.

Wait-postseason committee not recognizing our team's accomplishments by giving us a higher seed than we deserve? Well I certainly haven't heard of this before.

I think Kendrick and J. Cole would be major exceptions to the concept mentioned in the comment above yours, and, to some extent, your response. The approach they take to rap music just seems to be different. Kendrick is far more poetic in his lyrics than the norm, and his songs have a philosophical quality to them. That seems to have stayed consistent throughout his catalogue, with the major shifts being experimentation with different sounds. A major theme in much of his music is self-criticism rather than the self-glorification present in damn near all other rap music. For that to change, he'd have to make a total 180 on his whole worldview.

I also mentioned J. Cole. His whole shtick is simplified messages and a rather laid back presentation. He reminds me a lot of old Grandmaster Flash stuff. He doesn't seem likely to branch out towards the eccentric because it wouldn't click with what he raps about or how he raps about it, though I will admit, I'm far less sure about him than I am about Kendrick.

I'd love to go, but unfortunately can't. Anybody know if this game will be televised, and if so, on what affiliate? I'm in PA, so my DISH package doesn't include any VA affiliates. Sometimes I can get them on a Boston affiliate that shows ACC games, or on the Comcast Sports Network, but it looks like there will be no ESPN coverage of the game.

loaded question. why style of ipa do you like?

i'll die on the hill defending north east ipas right now and i'm not talking heady topper. hill farmstead, trillium, tree house, bissell, foundation, maine, etc ... that juicy, soft mouth feel ones are amazing.

king sue from toppling goliath, permanent funeral from 3 floyds are my favorite midwest ones. hop juju just a tick behind them, imo.

I know Cassell needs some updating, but let's not go overboard and take from our home court advantage. I believe some of our best teams played in the rustic confines of the old Lane Stadium and Cassell Coliseum. I had former WVU punter Miles Montgomery (DJ @ KIST-FM in Seattle) tell me that when they played at Lane in the late-80s to early-90s, their team absolutely hated it, from the smells of the nearby AG fields to the horrid Visitors locker room. Those kind of factors, along with the trip just getting to B'burg, definitely provided VT teams with a distinct home field advantage. I think we need to retain some of that advantage, even if it involves hiding a cow patty (or two) in an empty locker, so bring on your complaints, Brogden, and we'll file them for consideration when we do make updates to the Cassell.

liked them a lot too. best brewery i have hit in nova, but i hear aslin makes good ipas.

the answer brewpub is still the king of hops in va, tho.

yup, it's damn good

I think you've gravely mischaracterized OP's intent. The thread was specifically created for discussion of this one album, that much is very clear from the title, the original post, and the line you quoted where he explicitly states his intent. This was not intended to just be an "I love Kanye" circlejerk, but a discussion of his latest product. That said, the only people who really have a stake in such a conversation are people who actually listen to Kanye's music. Everyone else is trolling, which is what OP was trying to redirect away from. He's not soliciting an echo chamber, as you suggest, but he is trying to have a very specific discussion. And there are multiple differing opinions on that front. I, and others, have criticized what we heard off the album, even though OP seems to love it. We don't need to trash talk the artist in order to critique what they put out. If people don't like or listen to Kanye at all, then they really have no reason to be in this thread.

So out of curiousity, for people who got tickets through this deal, where are your seats?

I'm interested to see if I'll be around some fellow TKP'ers

When I was at tech the drug store at prices fork and main had a huge open floor space and would maintain this huge stockpile called the Beast Mountain. Milwaukees Best $5 per case.

I used to like Yuengling, until I visited their brewery. They did about everything possible to steer you away from the river, but I rode by it on the way out of town. it was a sewer, it seemed like you could walk on the used baby diapers.

My husband skipped his cousin's wedding for the 08 Miami game. We also told his brother he can't have his wedding reception on September 10 because we won't go.

The North London Derby has become and wonderful match, anyone else watching?

Let him/her walk around the concourse last 4 min of first half, get concessions before the big halftime rush. Mine was interested until about that point. We took laps in the concourses last 4 min of first half of FSU game. He hung in there til the end after that break to move around....well he said he was ready to go home and it was too loud about 2:00 mark when we were putting the big run on them but I told him we could ride the "town bus" the BT back to the parking lot if he could wait the last 2 min. He did fine

It was OK, rather tame though...not nearly as loud indoors as the WVU Mascot's musket

Looks like my first game of the season will also be the last one. Let's hope my 4 year old can go the distance so I don't have to bail early.

I know I'm different, but when Inwas a student, I spent my spring break going to bball games and Conf tourneys (CAA, Metro/A10). I'd absolutely stay an extra day and enjoy a quieter Bburg with less traffic/crowds in the bars/restaurants and cheer on the Hokies.
