Very well put, and I'd say you stayed in bounds. And that's a fairly typical response following crimes like this that shake a community, and understandably so. But it's also a response steeped in emotion, which has no place in the criminal justice system. Now, I agree that life in prison seems both likely and just, given the facts laid out, but punishments should never be doled out in order to "make an example." One, severity of punishment has less of an impact than most people think, and two, the concept is repugnant to due process. This case will likely be open and shut and out of the news quicker than most, but the defendants do deserve to be tried fairly and in a manner based solely on the facts of the case, and their sentences should not be based on anything other than prudence and jurisprudence.

The recruiting game has changed considerably in the last 5 years. Social media, Hudl, vastly increased recruiting budgets, camps, etc. make it much easier for every program to expand their recruiting umbrella.

Now instead of just a few schools reaching into Virginia (and other talent rich states) for the top 10 players, you've got dozens. And if you notice, you don't see the kids outside the top 10 getting recruited by the blue bloods - they focus their resources on only the top kids in every state. Which makes it easier for the rich to get richer because they don't waste their time on more than a few kids in each state.

Patrick Kearns: Big, athletic guy. "Looks" like he could play now. Likes the weight room.

Dzansi Silas: OL. Played both sides in HS. Played BB too. With his build can still put on a lot of weight.

Divine Deablo: 6'4". Can't wait to coach him. Already "looks" like he's been in the program 3-4 yrs. Can catch and run.

Phillip Patterson: Exciting. Could play DB. Goes after the ball in the air. Won't be there until July.

Samuel Denmark: 10.6 100m guy. (I think he said something about you can't teach that). Early enrollee.

Jerod Evans: #1 dual threat. Big, accurate, smart. They've recruited him for awhile. [In response to a later question, he said they wouldn't have gotten him at Memphis. Missouri wanted him and Charlie Strong came knockin' hard after he visited VT - and for a Texas kid that says something]

Demetri Moore: JUCO. Has only played FB for about 3 yrs. Played BB in HS. 320 lbs now. Light on his feet. [Wouldnt have gotten him at Memphis either. Some good programs wanted him]

Joshua Jackson: Early enrollee. Coaches kid. Football IQ. Active, accurate.

JoVonn Quillen: Good athlete. Played QB in HS. Long, lean, active athlete.

Jarrod Hewitt: High motor. Twitch.

Eric Kumah: Playmaker

Jimmie Taylor: Size 16 shoes, still growing. Already big. Already strong. Controls line of scrimmage.

Reggie Floyd: 6'1" 208...up from 175-180 when they (presumably Foster, et al) started recruiting him. Good hands. One of the best they saw at camp.

Thomas Jarrett Hopple: Big athletic guy. Will grow still. Hopefully athletic enough for tackle.

Tavante Becket: Good in space. Athletic.

Tyree Rogers: Will play DB. 6'1". Active. Plays the ball in the air.

Eron Carter: LB. Tackling machine. Smart.

Emmanuel Belmar: 6'3". Can bend, doesn't have to move in straight line. LB, but can put his hand on ground too. Can move him around.

Khalil Ladler: Ball hawk. Good feet, hips. Can tackle. Early enrollee, but rehabbing now.

T.J. Jackson: BIG. But can move. Avg'd 25 pts/game in HS BB.

Zachariah Hoyt: Grey shirted. About 6'4"-6'5". Center, but can play all 3 positions.

That's about it. I'm sure I missed some things. Folks who were there should feel free to fill in the blanks.

He is an intense guy. I don't foresee emotionless games with this new staff in place. He also loves the new S&C coach and says the workouts have been rough. Young, hungry blood has come to VT football.

I wonder if it is the same guy who asked Babcock two consecutive years how to make the sound of the game more authentic inside the luxury boxes. "I want to hear the game without getting cold." The same guy also asked the first "Will Lawson start?" next year question to Bud last year.

Yep...I wanted to punch that guy in the face myself - but it was red meat for a decent portion of the crowd. He's in for a big surprise when he finds out that some part of Foster's success was the boring offensive philosophy of field position and clock control.

And Mr. "Spring Games are boring" couldn't have been too happy with Wiggins' answer that the real excitement is the practices and by the time of the spring game they just run vanilla stuff to get spring practice done with and incur no damage.

After the initial impact of all this and reading all the comments all day, Here's my take on this. Florida fired their DB coach on January 14. They likely had a short list of candidates, of which Torrian was undoubtedly either at or near the top. I'm sure they reached out to him somewhat quickly, and arranged an interview sometime in the past couple of weeks. There likely was not a quick decision, as I'm sure Florida interviewed at least a couple of coaches. I would hope that Torrian informed Coach Fu & Foster about his interview and his interest. I would guess that a final offer wasn't extended until the past few days. And in regard to the Lynchburg event poster, that would have been printed up well in advance. Torrian's acceptance of the offer seems to have been timed to make sure that Tech was taken care of with regard to recruits getting their NLI in (as insensitive to the kids as that seems...Torrian was taking care of his responsibilities to VT). I would assume that TG told Coach Fu sometime Monday or Tuesday of his decision, which would have put the gears in motion for the "generous counteroffer". But by this point TG's mind was made up, the deal was done.

It actually sparked my interest when he said if you want more exciting stuff come watch us practice. All I kept thinking was, he's not serious, right? Assume that was just to compare what they do in practice vs spring game and not that there were going to be more "open" practices or scrimmages
