I saw Tabor play a lot this year. The whole offense was designed around getting Deablo the ball in space. There's not a whole lot of highlight catches because of their QB's arm strength (lack thereof), but he is a total package. He attacks the ball in the air (he won EVERY jump ball), and he's excellent after the catch. Tabor even had him returning punts, hell he may have even punted a few times... he seemed to always be on the field near the ball.
I know signing period goes but is there a time frame to send out official scholarships?

# | BUZZKETBALL CENTRAL: Virginia Tech Hokies (12-10, 4-5) at Syracuse Orangemen (15-8, 5-5) 8 PM ACC Network I was willing to accept UVA because we ended up winning. Notre Dame was frustrating but they were a good team at home. Night in and night out, though, is tough to accept.
So you're saying there's a chance you miiiiiight be suiting up? Hey, enjoyed your comments today.
I can't.
Ain't the first walk-on to commit to putting in the work to try to make the team. I wish him good health and good luck, and go talk to Sam Rogers the day you set foot on campus.
To expand and maybe clarify on comment above. First, I agree with you that its way too early to judge CJF as a recruiter, its simply not fair at this point.
What does plague me though is we only replaced essentially 1/2 our staff. And you point out above that many of the last minute attempts at "flips" weren't even looking at VT prior to Fuente arriving. Most of these guys were Defensive players. The question that is burning at me is why weren't our Defensive coaches looking at and reaching out to THEM??? Prior to CJF that is.
The staff apparently saw enough in these guys to offer them but didn't recruit them heavily until they were already committed elsewhere. This is what concerns me going forward....can the D-staff step up their recruiting level???
Looks like quite literally everyone was surprised by that.
It almost seems like a surprise to his brother.
They can laugh about it now.
He's finally snapped. Best to let this one go.
Recruitment shell shock is a nasty thing
UPDATE: CJF gave boilerplate "we're excited" coachspeak. Basically got on the horn w the WWL to fill a "new HC on his first class w new school" slot in their coverage. Whole thing took about 90 seconds. You missed nothing
I don't know if he will get as big as Jarrett Boykin
How big are his hands? Boykin never quite grew into his hands...

I think its really funny to read how our defensive recruiters are dumpster fires...
and then read how great they were only one year earlier...
2015 Signing Day Thread
Edit: and this by no means is any slight on your comment directly, I probably should have put it down at the bottom, but I figured this was as good of a place as any. It is really funny though to read the difference this year from last, I guess its just how some things #settle out.
There is a better chance of me playing linebacker. He is a defensive tackle. 3 tech, 1 tech... MAYBE could play a 5 tech if Bud runs any true 3-4
then you make a position of weakness even weaker depth wise. I think we will be fine at DE. I expect big things from Hill and Gaines.
GO after more JUCOs and maybe a grad transfer

Fuente did say today he wants the position coaches much more involved
Cause we didn't know. He did some interviews initially where he said it wasn't a requirement, I mean he did cancel his OV to Iowa to come to VT
Yea didn't work out so well with Asnate
2 missed layups in the final 90 seconds...
There really isn't much else you need to look in why we lost. Have to be able to finish the deal late in games. Hopefully the program learns and this doesn't happen in future years.
Signing period goes until April. I saw some high profile guys decommitted today and extended their recruitment

I'm happy for the kid. Up until the moment he announced, Virginia Tech expected him to sign with the Hokies, so it's a negative for Tech's program. However, he made his mom, family and twin brother very happy (perhaps a selfless decision), and I can't hold it against him.
