Pros: Fills gaps nicely, meets runners in the hole, pretty good play recognition, does a good job of not letting blockers get into his chest

Cons: Not great lateral speed/quickness, doesn't always bring feet immediately when tackling (tough thing to do)

For a slight comparison, Motuapuaka has pretty good lateral speed but doesn't have great tackling technique. Instead of driving his feet, Moto has a tendency to stop his feet and rely on trying to "rodeo" or "olay" the guy to the side.

Note: This is based off a very quick film review.

I doubt old, fat, slow, and dumb are high end elements in the making of a Bud Foster linebacker. I am awesome at Jeopardy though.

Is that what the look on his face is about? Is he trying to seem 'chill'?

Have you had a chance to evaluate Tre Hubbard? I know he's a walk-on but I'm wondering if it's because of his size, that he needs to develop, or that he was overlooked.

I think you mean All Maroon??

I think the big issue that account seems to have is:

A- Temper Issue
B- lack of accountability on the defensive staff that has been here and their lack of recruiting/ablility to bring in the proper kids. Easy to blame Fuente and Beamer because they're the HC but position coaches are just as important for these kids too. What ever we're doing on the defensive side to recruit kids needs to be overhauled completely because its not selling very well

I would argue that last year they were given lots of recruiting heat as well between losses of Taylor, Sweat, and Dalton. Then Hand and Nnadi the year before...

I think people have noticed the lack of results for a few years now. Let's pray that Fuente is the bringer of change.

Complete sarcasm. It was a lot more tasteful than what I originally had typed so I went with it.

Lot of attitude on D side of the class. Beckett definitely, but Hewitt, Carter, Ladler, Rodgers all guys who look like they play with a healthy dose of mean.

Not saying it makes up for some of the misses today, but the LAST thing this defense needs is docile, bashful players. Feel like a Dude, you're more likely to play like a Dude.

I agree with this. Concrete, Hokie Stone on the exterior (facing the practice field), etc. will make that section of the stadium look great. It doesn't need to be the same size as the south EZ.

HA! deep cut there...since we're using that era as a benchmark, did Deveon Simmons ever get his grades up? We need fast, aggressive linebackers desperately in this class

Completely agree with your comments on the D staff. However I recall reading where CJF told Bud O would a priority this year. Plus we have no idea how recruiting was directed/handled under CFB. Guess I'm saying IMHO they get a pass/reset as well.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think under CFB the D staff was allowed to get complacent and comfortable. I think the injection of new leadership has re-motivated them. Remember that Fuente re-interviewed all the staff that was retained and made the decision on his own. Certainly he had input from Bud, but I'm sure he made a huge emphasis on recruiting.
