If you haven't, WATCH THIS KID'S TAPE. Could contribute immediately on ST.
Not a sexy get for us on paper, But Carter's gonna be a meaningful player for us down the road. Truly believe that.
You like Lydon at Backer? Motu at Mike, Lydon at Backer, Edmunds3 at Stud.
Yea, that seems a Facebook "non-entry"...

I was agreeing while not trying to devalue Flowers. Sorry.
Why?
If we're in great shape with him now, what possible good would a year of other offers and thinking about it do? Wouldn't you sign him now if you could? (#extremehypotheticals hahaha)
Maybe I'm just reading your comment wrong.
I think my wording was slightly unclear. I was giving BF as an example of great hips as opposed to a similarity comparison between he and Ladler. I actually haven't watched film on Ladler yet.
I also totally agree that Flowers was an extremely unique talent and we may never see a guy like him again. He may not get the attention he deserves, but Gray and Bud Foster have both said he was the best corner they've ever coached.
He's not allowed to say anything else. Really. He can't comment on recruits that are not committed to VT and I think he's also not allowed to comment on any aspect of recruiting prospects who went to other schools. This just goes hand in hand with the requirement to express nothing but unbridled excitement about the incoming class.
Certainly not Mike London.. I think
Such appropriate initials.
Oh he's just BM

Good points, I really enjoyed the BS piece as well.
I share the same sentiment on Allen, the greatest is that late game composure/awareness, leading right to your question... Yes I feel Buzz is hesitant to reign him in, especially late. Unlike me, Buzz hasn't seemed to lose confidence in him in the final minutes. His free throw % may have a lot to do with that fact though. But can you actually bench him late? We have seen Buzz interchange him and Devin Wilson late, just to get a defensive boost.
The thing is, we rely on that aggression all game long and I dont think there is anything near a capable replacement for Seth Allen. The closest being Jalen on his occasional Tyrone night. Without Allen, I wonder if our guards would force any fouls all game. Allen on the drive is the main reason we find space amongst the defense, Robinson seems the better facilitator, but cant create his own shot in an instance. Allen is the most prolific free throw shooter, and draws contact on damn near every layup, whether the zebra's are whistle-happy or not.
He does so much for us, yet makes such poor decisions down the stretch. How the heck do you combat this - how the heck can you change the instinct of a player with his experience? I can't imagine Buzz hasnt mentioned the thought.. 'hey seth you played really great last night, but those forced shots and aggressive drives lost us the game, again' in coach-speak. Everybody knows the refs dont like to blow the whistle on contact during final second drives, and driving to the hoop has to be the highest contributor in his scoring totals.
At the end of the day/game, Bibbs can't create his own shot.. and Allen doesn't put in the effort to look for open teammates, it is very clear he wants the ball in his hands. This is a bad strategy, given a defense knows to key on Allen and his relatively poor outside shooting %.
The importance of hip fluidity should be more common knowledge amongst football fans, separates the wheat from the chaff. Also having quick feet when the receiver crosses your face inside. Brandon Flowers is an excellent example of someone who rarely got burned despite not having elite speed because he had tremendous hip fluidity and technique.
edit: admittedly, Brandon Flowers is my favorite VT corner.

Soo....?
They don't need to expand keep the same footprint just make it not bleachers, it looks cheap.
Flowers was my favorite player at VT, so I hesitate to draw comparisons to him. Ladler has similar ability in terms of his technique. While Ladler lays some licks on film, I would be hard pressed to compare anyone to Flowers in terms of his physicality. He was truly a special player at VT and should get more attention. In this area, I hear about DeAngelo Hall all the time. You give me 11 Brandon Flowers vs 11 DHalls, and I will win every time.
I'm really happy Fuente was jumpstarting the 2017 recruiting efforts before this class was finished, as well as hosting a recruiting event I believe this coming weekend. We absolutely have to do so some damage in VA this year. Big guys - Laborn, Ewell, Hunter, Vilain, Crosby, and others that are big time recruits. I think building solid relationships with them early, as well as being able to win this upcoming year, will go a long way. BTW, does anyone know what position Hunter projects at in college? I always see him listed as a QB/Safety/Athlete.
Yeah, I get that. My point is just that there's no point in expanding Lane Stadium when it sells out for maybe 1 game a season. Until our fans return to Blacksburg consistently and we start winning consistently, bringing in more money, Lane should stay just how it is.
My apologies. Kumah is a very polished receiver. He has the ball skills to win 50 50 battles. He is a relatively polished route runner compared to most HS receivers (not quite where Cam Phillips and Isaiah Ford were, but close.) He has good size and can grow. I don't know if he will get as big as Jarrett Boykin, but I could see him becoming a taller version of Josh Morgan. He is patient on screens and lets his blocking develop before getting up field.
Deablo probably has a little more physical upside. He has a wider frame and could probably carry more weight than Kumah. He is an animal in the air. In the Memphis system, I could see Deablo playing as a big slot receiver who can run the outside fade (remember Cam Worthy at ECU) and also be featured in the outside zone jet sweep series. I know Wiggins mentioned his route running. I thought that actually is probably an area for improvement. He looked nice on posts and go routes. I would have liked to have seen how well he can read a defender and stick route off the defender's leverage more. Those stick routes are major components of the Fuente offense, especially on the inside (more reasons why I think Bucky may play even more on the outside this season.) For those that follow Tennesse, Deablo reminds me of Von Pearson and Cordarrelle Patterson in terms of his YAC, body type, and ball skills.

Think the 1:30 announcement means 2:30 Blacksburg-time. Kid is from LA, which is CST.
