Really? The rumor mill is still debating that, though I haven't seen it in any verifiable source.

I'm sure it's standard rhetoric, but I love the fact that he is focused on winning rather than statistics. I know that young guys can get lost in the numbers, so hopefully this staff can keep them focused even when they ARE putting up big numbers.
They don't need to take a financial loss. The Sugar Bowl will make money whether it's held on Jan 1 or any other reasonable day. They've done it in the past. If the NCAA wanted to, they could tell the SuperDome (or whoever the current contract is with) that they need to accomodate the NCAA's scheduling needs or be left out of the playoff. I'm sure they'd be surprisingly accomodating with such an ultimatum.
Man, the spring game can't come soon enough!

Kyle Allen is transferring to Houston. Has to sit out 2016, will be eligible 2017 and 2018. I'd be surprised if tom Herman doesn't get a big time job offer by then: Texas, LSU, TN(after they fall apart following a loss in Bristol), or ironically A&M.

He's been placed on IR, done for the year (I'm hoping that means more than one game). Shouldn't affect him being on the roster next year, whether that be at cb or safety. Certainly makes a tougher day for the redskins secondary against Aaron Rodgers. #HTTR, #DBU

Here's the thing. I actually agree with the CFP boss in that there are a variety of factors that contributed to the difference in ratings, and there's no way of knowing exactly how much each factored in.
Next year (2016-2017), New Year's Eve is on a Saturday, so there shouldn't be any scheduling complaints. (The New Year's Day bowls will be on January 2.) For 2017-2018, the playoffs jump back to New Year's Day. (The New Year's Eve bowls will be on December 30, though, since NYE is a Sunday.) And in 2018-2019, New Year's Eve is a Monday, so that's going to be the next time to really see how a "workday" might affect the games.
Last year had the novelty factor working in its favor. This year, the matchups didn't seem as interesting. Plus, as I said above, the Cotton Bowl's ratings might have been improved by being on New Year's Eve, because some of us were locked into watching that. If it was another night, where I wasn't waiting specifically for midnight, I might have gone to bed.
As for me, I work evening shift with rotating days off. Holidays are always a little strange, because they try to be fair. It's easier for me to get New Year's Eve off, because it's not the actual holiday. Last year, I had to make a deal where I came in early on New Year's Day to work on moving files around for the new year, so I was able to be home in time for the Rose Bowl.
That being said, it might not be a bad idea to just have the playoffs be on the Saturday closest to New Year's Day.

Playoff officials also passed on the opportunity to move the semifinals to Saturday, Jan. 2, opting to gamble on New Year's Eve kickoffs. ESPN had attempted to convince executives to play on Saturday this year only, given the opportunity presented by the calendar, but executives opted not to stray from the original plan.
They call it "Progress Energy Duke" or "Duke Energy" around here. I usually read the former but hear the latter.
I haven't experienced much incompetence, except for their website. It's not great.

Damn there were some salty UVA fans out today, had a guy in Roanoke go out of his way to try and talk shit while my wife and I were out for dinner. She doesn't follow sports but follows date night ettiquette seriously.
Edit: largely repeating what others have already said, catching up from not reading a lot of TKP over Christmas/New Years business and hadn't read ahead far enough.
But there is one truth underlying it all - fossil fuels are finite. It will take a technological overhaul to bypass this issue. Otherwise, sometime in the next 50-70 years (IIRC, don't quote me on it), we're going to pull the last drop of decomposed dino out of the Earth, followed by a collective, "so what now?"
When I was in elementary school 20+ years ago I remember being taught that we would run out of fossil fuels in about 25-35 years, so I tend to take these predictions with a bit of a grain of salt. While we will obviously run out eventually if we don't develop alternatives, between better technology in mining/drilling to making more resources recoverable and more efficient technology for the use of fossil fuels in vehicles, power plants, etc. I think we'll easily have transitioned to other power sources before the run out. If demand is high enough and supply low enough to make it economically feasible, companies will spend the money to go after resources that are harder to recover. And lack of supply will cause prices to rise leading to increased conservation.
I personally lean towards increasing our reliance on nuclear power, especially in 30-50 years when fusion reactors are projected start to operating commercially.
Interestingly, I saw a graphic on Twitter that Peach Bowl viewership was up this year over last.
