Backups aren't necessarily less talented than the starter, but they are frequently younger/less experienced. All the talent in the world won't help if you don't know where to go with the ball.
I wouldn't say that Lawson is less talented than Brewer, for example, but he was way less experienced. The complexity of the offense is a factor as well, obviously a simpler offense will likely be easier for a green QB to pick up than a super complex offense.
the SEC West is THE top division in football. The SEC East is absolutely not one of the top 6 divisions in football. UT and Florida are the best teams in that division and they would struggle in just about any other conference including some of the P5 conferences. Florida was just breaths away from losing to lowly ECU and they won that division anyway. Without a QB. That division is not good.

Yes.
Stanford dropped the ball against NWern.
Stanford lost but did not drop the ball against Oregon.
Reason:
Vernon Adams, Jr. was in his second game ever as the starting QB for Oregon when they lost to MSU by 3.
Vernon Adams, Jr. was in his tenth game ever as the starting QB for Oregon when they beat Stanford by 2.
Stanford was pretty consistent all year long except the WTF against NWern.
Oregon was inconsistent but got better as the season progressed (won their last 6 pre-bowl).
Was the discussion at the beginning with Norm Wood that David Teel was making only his 6th visit to Blacksburg since Buzz had been there?

It's a great move for him. Times have changed - if he wants a legacy anything like his father's, he won't be able to stay in one place.
I'm kind of worried that one day it'll all become "hot takez" for the sake of viewership and advertising money, and that solid intellectual reporting will drop off significantly.

It actually isn't as odd as you might think. Lots of coaches shuffle through various positions on one side of the ball. The stability of the VT staff over Frank's tenure makes it seem odder than it is now.
Honestly, Shane is in great shape here because he worked alongside Stiney for several years, who is a very good TE coach.

In all honesty, I thought we'd be better than 2-14 in league play, but I feel your positive vibes. It's all up from here. even if we slide a bit, the bar has been raised.

Hudson was dropping some dimes. And Blackshear and Leday have some soft hands for big men to reel them in and finish in the paint.
I think we can safely say (at least last night) that Leday was the best player on the court. His interior rebounding and transition offense was key, and also his ability to match London's crazy flurry of 3's was clutch (if not aesthetically pleasing). He kept VT close at a time when UVA was threatening to build a lead. Love his attitude.
It is something that a parody of a Night at the Roxbury actor would wear.
I really think he stays all 4. He made some big plays but he is not a slot guy so he needs to bulk up more to handle the physical NFL corners. The extra year on campus will put him in a better position for a better NFL career and likely a higher draft pick.
Granted I'm from Maryland, but I did early admission at tech and graduated in Civil Engineering. Engineering at U of Delaware and the physics dept. at Towson both ranked higher for me than anything UVA or UMD.
Now, to be fair, I was pulling hard for my fianc to get into UVA for their law program because it's killer.
The SEC East is a top 6 division by default because there are only 8 P5 divisions, and even then it's close. In no particular order
SEC West
Pac12 North & South
Big10 East (is that leaders or legends?) whichever one is OSU, MSU, Michigan
ACC Atlantic (Clemson alone is so light years ahead of any SEC East team)
The ACC Coastal is better too IMO, even with all its chaos
