If I gathered anything from watching the NY6 games, it's that we need to go to an eight-team playoff. Ohio State and Stanford deserved to be in the field. I know MSU absolutely earned their B1G title and playoff spot on the field, but I can't help but think that OSU is far away the better team. If those teams played ten times, MSU may only win one or two, but one win was all it took for them to get into their conference title game and beat out OSU for the playoff.
We need to go to eight and give the champs of the P5 all automatic bids. Then we need three wildcards to preserve the drama of the selection process and prevent a situation that sometimes occurs when the better team doesn't win out. I would love to see Houston get a shot in an eight-team playoff this year as well. I don't think going to eight devalues the regular season at all, but it's a way to maintain an exciting and meaningful regular season while also setting up a very exciting postseason tournament.

Not anymore, to keep up schools are increasing the money they get from "student fees" and from "loans" from the academic side.

Well, yes, I agree with you about Green Day vs Muse. I'm not a real big fan of Muse, but Green Day doesn't even compare to Muse. Let's put a partition in the discussion here.
Okay, now I think if you want to compare Muse to another band, I think they are closest to what Rush was in the 70s. Political lyrics, progressive instrumentation, a certain grandeur to their presentation.
oh yea I agree, I was mainly just referring to TD's celebrations... but yea the whole over the top celebrations for a sack or first down, etc is a little annoying and childish
This ^^^^^^^. Typically facilities like this are paid for with athletic funds and private donations. Your tuition is not being spent on fancy locker rooms.
The Corps of Cadets lives on campus all 4 years. That being said, VT managed to build both an indoor practice facility and new dorms for the Corps.

State is a pretty balanced team, and a bit of a bad matchup for the Hokies, but no ACC road game is a given. If we can shoot the basketball well and play a little defense then we can win any of these home games. Also hoping Pierce can play tough in this one, otherwise whoever's out there will get manned down by Anya
Bucky got flagged because after the celebration he threw the ball towards he sideline and didn't give it to the referee. Kind of dumb if you ask me but a rule none the less.

To me, this whole post appears to be an effort to throw Dr. Mike Gentry under the bus, simply because he was not retained/retired. I sure hope that isn't the case. Gentry was a cutting edge guy that broke ground bringing plyometrics and flexibility into the mix, among other things. I have his book, and read it over a decade ago, and found it very insightful in molding football players into athletes that would excel. The idea that he knows nothing about nutrition, if that is what is being implied, is way off base. "Old School" (or even just "old") is often equated with stupidity, which is laughable and insulting. The irony of that notion, and how the irony is lost on those that think it, is amusing, actually.
As for players putting on weight, then losing weight, or not responding to the conditioning, as was mentioned, and in a way that implied the S&C coach had no idea what he was doing...
I can tell you that maybe the players aren't all that into doing all the things that they are asked to do. Some will eat whatever they want, despite strict diet instructions, skip workouts - or do them half-heartedly, etc. Vince Hall told me he couldn't stand Gentry always getting in his face in the weight room, and really butted heads with him. You can lead a horse to water...
Bottom line: the S&C coach can know all there is to know, and not get 100% of the players to buy into it.
Not all good football players are workout warriors, and all workout warriors are not good football players. I also agree that, as was said, the latest craze of high paid S&C guys is an over-reaction/arms race type of thing, much like practice facilities, and the playground at Clemson.

My understanding from various articles is that ESPN did want to adjust the schedule for the big bowls and CFP, specifically to get the playoff games on today, but ran into issues from the CFP and the Rose Bowl in particular.
The bigger picture issue is that, yes, why should a game like the Rose Bowl give a rats ass about growing the game. It's about money in their pocket. I get it. But long term, ESPN survives off cable subscribers paying fees, which they are losing in droves. Eventually, these bowls, not just the Rose, might have to realize decisions might need to be made to make sure there are still people out there that even care to watch.
ESPN overpaid for a lot of broadcast rights, and I have sympathy for them.

You may be right. But the CFP has already acquiesced to the Rose somewhat this year. They were unwilling to give up their status and time slot for the playoff.
The Rose Bowl has it's own TV contract that was signed in 2012 and lasts through 2026. They couldn't 'give up' their time slot if they wanted to (unless ESPN was OK with it). Source

The CFP may not be like the NCAA in all ways, but they seem to have the arrogance part down by really pushing this "new tradition" idea of NYE playoff games when it is clear they had other options (like playing the games today, for example, which probably would have netted them even bigger ratings than last year.
And the verdict is in on that. It failed. They will now go back to the drawing board to figure out how to get out of the NYE timeslots, because they are ratings poison.
