See, that's a damn good commentary on it and there's so much more to talk about from that. While the comments section are littered with one liners and gifs, the forum posts are discussion starters. With regards to her filling a void, I think many people don't realize just how much Ballein did. He's very underappreciated because he never gets credit except from those who work with him. I'm pretty sure Beamer would argue that Ballein, just like Mike Gentry, was just as important to the program and its rise as Bud Foster and any other coach.

I'd like to consult with the equipment guys on this, but I think Dadi's jersey got tore up a bunch this year and how many holding calls did we see? Not many. I know it got ripped during Ohio State and we all know how those holding calls went. As mentioned ECU was so bad that he had to change jerseys mid game. There have to be others.

Is it that Dadi was so good at what he does that OLinemen just couldn't block him without grabbing jersey? And the refs know this so they don't do much about it or else there would be 20-30 holding calls every game?

I feel like the sideline reporter on the ECU game should have made a big deal about Dadi having to change jerseys, but that would have embarrassed the AAC refs, I suppose.

I've always thought that TKP is less convo and more one line dingers at eachoether and gifs back and forth.

I've been more timid to have convo or thought type posts on here b\c they are always just received with a stupid comment instead of a thoughtful question or something productive.

But since you brought it up- here was I wrote on TSL

One of the things that really set us back against the race against Clemson, UNC, and FSU (who I have decided are our main recruiting rivals in the ACC) was the lack of use of technology and ability to stay on top of recruiting.

I have read several articles or watched several videos over the last few years where it became clear that our staff and coaches were outmatched on the recruiting battle ground.

It was a few years ago at a recruiting night and I asked Shane if it put us behind the 8-ball b\c we didn't have the larger staffs like some of our competitors had. I am not sure if Shane just gave an answer to defend VT or if he really believed it. But I asked how much of an advantage it was for a staff member to do all the leg work and analysis of a high school player so the coach could then come in full of info and knowledge and hit the ground running.

Shane said that part of the fun of coaching was trying to eval the recruits and such - I don't think I got my question across in the manner that I wanted to, b\c what I was really asking was are we being as effective as the other teams we are competing against. And instead I got a coach speak answer about the challenge and fun of recruiting...

Bartelstein brings an operation that we have not had. She will have a comprehensive strategy for each individual recruit and it will be more than a relationship. The relationship will always be the key, but what is needed is the network of information about the recruit that any one of the staff can step in to create that relationship while having all of the information needed.

Frank walked into a Lynchburg recruit's house and called his mom by another Lynchburg players mom's name.. Years of leg work and relationships had been built, but we didn't pass along the small knowledge. This is an extreme example- but Frank wasn't a part of that recruitment until the end, so he when it was his time to step in- there is should be no reason he isn't given a last minute brief.

This may seem to business like for some of you- but that is what we are getting with Bartelstein, and I love it.

Like some of us have said the last few years- we have relied on our coaching evals and Va Hs coaches. None of that is bad in and of itself - but schools that are dominating recruiting now, this is how they operate.

This hire may actually have me the most excited out of all the hires we made. This tells me that not only will the product on the field be different, but that the actual organizational structure and strategy will be different as well.

If we're in first place, everything else is a technicality.

I wasn't able to record the game but we had end zone seats and could see the play develop and UVA ran back to back running where the tailback led and he pancaked our boy. The TB gets up all fired up and could have sworn the ran the same play next with the same result. My memory could be fading but I call ed my buddy who was watching the game at home and he saw the same thing. I know he has not been playing FB very long, my point he does not stack up to a Chase Williams, let alone a Cody Grim or Ben Taylor.

although I do appreciate the optimism I feel obligated throw up the caution flag here. There is no guarantee that our offense will start dominating teams in the ACC. I know Fuente has a proven track record and we have a bunch of talent on that side of the ball but we should limit our expectations. We shouldn't realistically expect a high powered offense in Blacksburg until at least 2018. I wouldn't be surprised to see significant improvement there this year but I'm going to give Fuente and staff benefit of the doubt if we're not scoring 40+ PPG in 2016. Don't expect our offense to light up the score board just yet. Give it time.

Sure, Motu isn't Cody Grimm. He's got work to do. Can you point to a specific example in the UVA game where he was "getting blown up by the tailback" because I don't distinctly recall that. Every player has a bust once in a while, but if his net play was overall positive, the narrative just starts sounding a bit tired.
