# | Cassell Coliseum Catch-All Thread - Likes, Dislikes, Wants, etc. Home games usually tally up to around 20 games a season, 9 from ACC play and 11 from OOC.
Should we expect Williams and McKenzie to regain form? Considering what we saw from Shai this year and the reports that Williams reinjured his leg, I'm not so sure we will ever see those two guys in their 2014 form again.
I'll go out on a limb and say that if you want to add some premium seating, and it only costs 100-300 seats, that you have my blessing without even a lot of angst over it.
At least one the proposals here would cost more like 1500 seats.

It seems we didn't reach out to him for some time. So i have to think that you're right. He'll fit better at a smaller school where he can make a real impact on the field. I wish the best to him.

I'm confused. The guy has no other offers and the bulk of the defensive staff are staying. Why de-commit?
Question about all the Taco bye week guys for next year. What's the plan regarding them? Could we confine them all to one conference? Call them UVA?

So losing 100-300 seats won't effect the atmosphere when even during the peak years there were still plenty of games with empty seats. Adding in luxury boxes/decks only helps the overall program and doesn't hurt it in any way.
During the good Greenberg years it was full for the marquee games and 70-75% full for the others (and sold out for all games).
No they're not, but there are still plenty of people in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Roanoke that would likely go if the on-court product was good enough.

# | Fuente Kicks Off Recruiting Effort with Outreach to 2016/2017 Commits and Recruits A few excerpts from an article I remembered reading a few months back as Memphis began their run.
Just 35 at the time of his hire, Fuente had spent the previous five seasons at TCU first as its running backs coach (2007-08) and then its co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach ('09-11). After watching his previous team surge up the Mountain West standings and realign into the Big 12, Fuente wanted to apply the same methods in Memphis and build a turnaround on relationships and what he calls a "factory-worker" mentality. "We wanted to identify with the blue-collar, roll-your-sleeves-up [personality]," Fuente says. "We're not into the fancy wine, women and song and moon and stars that you see in college football."
But in early January, the coach landed Jacob Karam, a transfer from Texas Tech. Still, he wasn't ready to stop putting out feelers for potential talent. "We are the program that's got to look underneath the rocks," Fuente says.

I said it was among several factors. The biggest three being location of Blacksburg, meaning its remoteness to large population areas and distance from Alumni fans, weeknight games, because out of town fans are not going to drive 2-3 hours for a basketball game on Tuesday.

Juice, McMillian, and McKenzie might be a three headed monster that could work. Worked well for us in 2010 with Williams, Wilson, and Evans (granted sometimes there were injuries and it was more of a two-back rotation)
I realize suggesting a rotation is wildly unpopular with the fanbase given the last few years, but it can be effective when they are all really talented and the offensive line is blocking well.

If he wanted to play RB it wasn't looking good for him. I mean that is the area that we are stocked at. McMillian, almost got 1000 yards despite not being the primary back for 3 or 4 games. Juice and McKenzie should be healthy and ready to roll.
There are 3 plays that come to mind
The long TD pass Motley to Ford in the NCSTU game
The Motu strip and recovery for a TD against BC
The Sam Rogers TD catch from Brewer against OSU
Best non play moment was the group hug of Shane, Bud, and Frank at UVA.
My immediate guesses were that he 1a) has seen Fuente reach out to other recruits and hasn't felt the love yet himself or 1b) wants to play rb in college.

On a side note, thanks for all your input on this topic as I've enjoyed reading your comments. Premium seats are a must and I think the money generated from them will more than offset losing some seats. If the premium seats are in the corner or upper rim, then Tech would be losing revenue on $15 tickets. I think Tech can afford that trade off. I also think Cassell will look better attended on TV if you have less seats because it will move folks into more concentrated areas. Realistically, Tech won't be selling out every home game with a 10k capacity venue so why not try to find other revenue streams for those down games. I don't have the money for premium seats, but if my employer, friend, or whoever gave me the opportunity to sit in the premium seats for a game, you'd better believe my butt would be there even if we are playing the Arkansas Pine Bluffs of the world.
I think as far as enjoyable games go, Boston College was my favorite that we won, and Duke was my favorite that we lost. UNC was great, but the refusal by the officials to actually review that non-catch, and subsequent quick flip over to USC/Oregon made me a bitter, bitter man.
