Perhaps that he's coached with these guys for years - longer than the 4 at Memphis. Vice coached OL at Murray State when Fuente was the QB. Add to that they were all involved in the Memphis turn around. It just makes sense he'd bring as many over as he can.
Also on the defensive side, the only coach he knew before 2 years ago was Galen Scott. So he did shop around on the defensive side. It just so happened they were already here.
Buzz is a numbers guy, so I'm guessing he'll be all over this.
They're not going to hit 10 wins next year.
I think Bronco is an upgrade, but the ACC as a whole is upgraded.
Game on.

It's Fuente. Fuente of the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Any word or info anybody might have as far as rebranding is concerned now that we have a new coaching staff in place? I am talking helmets, jerseys, really the whole 9 yards? I am a fan of how our jerseys already are. I do love the helmets that we wore against U.VA, I guess they were throwbacks but still traditional looking VA TECH. I also was a fan of the metallic helmets that some people straight up hated and really the whole look we had for OSU as well as our black look for UNC. I know in the grand scheme of things winning is more important than uniforms but it is one of those stupid things that matter to 17-22 year old kids playing football and swag is important to some kids when making a decision, I specifically recall reading about a certain kid from Ocean Lakes saying "more swag from Va Tech could help in their recruiting." But to me swag is what Miami depends on, not VT, but I do agree a little variety wouldn't hurt from time to time just not every game like Oregon. I just feel like having the new indoor facility, new HC and Offensive staff, and a new guy on the Defensive staff now would be a time that they look at changing some other things as far as looks go (if that is something Whit and others wanted to do).
was looking at Greg Dortch from Highland Springs too. Best player on the field according to many...
yeah, Dorenzo Hudson, currently playing for a team called Panteras, down in Venezuela.
You mean Dorenzo Hudson? I remember making a dunk he had against Wake Forest my computer background back in the day.
Minor enough to take him out of the rest of the season... Those to me are a little bit more then minor (as a Hokie)
Agreed, if we can win with mostly 3-star players under Fuente, it will definitely open the door to the 4- and 5-star recruits, if we desire. I think in a lot of ways, you want that 'under the radar' recruit who comes in with something to prove, instead of a more prominent recruit who may not have the same drive. Recruiting is one thing, coaching up and winning games is something different - see Locksley, Franklin, Duffner, etc. for examples. Winning games in a winning environment will take care of itself.
Then why do they have a 24 team playoff, while FBS only has 4 teams?
He did say second rounder, which probably would have happened. And after his year this year, I'd be surprised at him going higher than 4th, if even that
The UVA grads I know have told me that a lot of people realistically expects to automatically be an 8-10 win team next year simply because BYU was good.. I know Mendenhall is a good coach, but even if they do hit 10 wins it'll definitely a few seasons to get everything in order.
An extended season wouldn't be just for money, it's for fairly deciding a champion in the sport. Imagine for a second that it didn't have the following that it does. Deciding the champion the way we do would be laughable.
Something's telling me there must be something more to these hires than just "(Position) Coach". What we don't see is what goes on behind the scenes at practice or in the meeting rooms, that makes CJF desire these guys on staff, when he maybe has the opportunity to shop around if he wanted.
#5 in the bottom pic...I'd almost forgotten about him! That was a good group back then.

# | Loeffler's Adjustments Help Fuel a Victory in Beamer's Commonwealth Cup Swan Song In the mid 90's we executed a pro style I- formation that was simple but accentuated the team's greatest strength. What was that strength you ask? TOUGHNESS! The D knew what they were getting but couldn't stop it unless they were tougher in that play. We won more plays. I do think Lefty has talent but for whatever reason he over thinks the game plan and the play calling imo.
Do we really know that Stiney is officially off the new staff?
I would love for him to be recruiting coordinator.
Winning will help more than anything.
1) Politics**
**This is really the only number that matters**
But for argument's sake...
2) There is a point of diminishing returns and a single semester season already bumps up against that point.
Beyond that...
3) The entire show comes to an end the moment college athletes are professionalized (See No. 1). ESPN knows it, the institutions of higher learning know it, the NFL knows it, and those other (FCS) institutions know it. An extended season for the sake of greater monetization of the sport represents an even bigger finger in the eye of amateurism. The only entities interested in it are sports journalists with page view counts and fans.
Something, something... goose... golden egg.
Agreed about Cornell, but we have now lost proven recruiters Stiney, Shane and Loeffler.
On paper, we have taken a step back as a recruiting staff. Fuente himself could make up some difference, the offense will help and it's entirely possible the less tested Memphis staff will step up. But this is an issue worth monitoring.
Worked with Wiley and Wilson for 4 years while attending Tech in Co-op program. Utilized other firms during my career with Federal and State governments.
Always liked your username. Big fan of Warthog aircraft. Used to be a unit at Myrtle Beach Air Base.
So, is Clark suspended for half of the bowl game too?
