# | Loeffler's Adjustments Help Fuel a Victory in Beamer's Commonwealth Cup Swan Song I think Loeffler's offensive strategies could pay off huge at a blue-chip school that regularly pulls in great recruits and is willing to give him a few seasons to get the O going.
I see a lot of people make that case, but that's really just a further indictment of Loeffler. JustWin Fuente mentioned (in his first day on the job) the importance of tailoring an offense to allow the players that you have to succeed. That's the way a great offensive mind should think/operate.
Seeing as Loeffler is on his way out, I don't want to poo poo him anymore. His offenses have been an improvement over Stinespring's. Plus his Mic'd Up episode was pure gold and gave me a quote that I'll probably have in my signature for a while.

I have to disagree on this. Meyer, Saban, and Stoops are not comparable to Spurrier in any way in my mind. Much classier individuals.
I never understood why he was liked by anyone. A successful coach, yes. A classless jerk who convinced others he was doing the selfless and noble thing, absolutely. Always talking smack when he had the upper hand and always turning and running when he was on the receiving side of things. I won't miss his bullshit. Whether or not this was a jab, everyone knows the reality. Frank was a loyal and overall exceptional person. Steve was just a good football coach. He didn't deserve the celebration. He didn't deserve to be carried off the field. He didn't deserve the tears shed from adoring fans in his press conference announcing his retirement, and that's why he didn't get them. Better suited for a controversial radio personality post retirement than someone who stays at their alma mater and continues to help their school in any way they can even after coaching. I think we all know this so I won't waste any more time. Keep doing you, Steve. Frank, you're everything anyone could have asked for and more.

# | Loeffler's Adjustments Help Fuel a Victory in Beamer's Commonwealth Cup Swan Song Indeed. Wasn't there a questionable two point conversion decision vs. Duke? Let's be honest. Loeffler never had a chance. A lot of fans wanted the spread offense and started complaining started instantly. Without Loeffler we would have had more than one losing season. The previous offensive strategy was run our QB like a chicken with its head cut off on broken plays. Before Loeffler, the last time Tech had anything recognizable as an offensive scheme was in 2001 when Ricky Bustle was OC. Even then it was pretty questionable. I think the damage O'Cain, Stinespring and Newsome did to VT has been grossly underestimated.

Let's not forget weird trick plays he's called in certain situations. It's totally unlikely Scot Loeffler had full control of the offense and offensive staff. The Run-Run-Pass pattern seen when Tech feels safe is pervasive all through the Beamer years. The only time Scot Loeffler is allowed to make any real calls is when Tech is behind. That's why the road the comebacks look so good but if we don't win prior to a tie it's over. Then we go back to playing it "safe" ala Run-Run-Pass.
Mark Richt. I go back to the 2006 peach bowl. We just needed a second half of ball control, and would have pulled off a major win. Instead, five? Six? Turnovers? It was awful. But we finally have an offense to match our D. I really want to sock Richt in the mouth when we play Da U next year. And, it'll be ten years since that infamous bowl game.
Isn't him stepping down without a lot of fanfare and recognition a sign of selflessness? How do you interpret that as Spurrier making it about himself?
I see this from the complete opposite side that you do.
I see Spurrier stepping down as selfless in a way. Realizing that the University, the team, and the fans deserve better than what he can give.
Message to Spurrier upon his "retirement": CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'RE A DOUCHEBAG!

Huh, so when Bud looked pissed at various points last year, he wasn't upset that the offense wasn't scoring enough to win despite his awesome defense, he was just salty that Grimes had left and with him any semblance of a respectable goatee on the offensive staff.

Correct, you want the Coordinators focusing on their duties. You don't see a coordinator as AHC unless its a co-coord situation.
Vance Vice sounds like an '80s porno name.
From what I understand normally you don't have a coordinator be AHC

Seriously. They fired a guy who won 9 games in the regular season to take a chance on a coordinator. The margin for error is tiny.
I was frustrated too.
But I felt that at any time, if we capitalized on our opportunities, we had the talent to win.
Glass half full/empty: we have a very talented group of athletes, but we didn't look like a team.
I think/hope that they will look remarkably improved as the season progresses.
Are you referring to the mullet on his head or on his lip?
Also, just because he is "wired" to be an asshole doesn't mean he is exempt from being criticized as one.
